Removing smallscratches from Console..........
I have noticed very fine scratches (tons of them) on the Center Console ahead of the arm rest. I think this is plastic, that was supposed to look like polished wood.
I have not tried to buff out the scratches yet or even polish it. Does anyone have a remedy for this. The more scratched it gets, the more it looks like cheap plastic.

ok, for the nth time. all the trims are REAL wood... with clear coating on top. you can polish that piece
it's more about how you maintain things, mine look new on all the cars i have owned, same with a lot of lexus i have worked with. i have worked on lexus where the trims are all scratched up, but then the owners don't really care about their cars and stuff they put in theirs

It's not plastic. It's wood covered in clearcoat. For all clearcoat finishes, you use polish and wax. Just like for paint.
See this link. The last post is quite good, as is the one about using the 3M finesse product.

Should these come out, or are they a part of the clear coat now?

as long as they are fine scratches within clear coat and not all the way through, then you can always polish and level things out. just a matter of how much work you going to do. keep in mind, for car body, people use buffers, which is just like you with your hands but 100 times faster, so you get the idea

Picked some of this stuff up and within about 5 minutes, I had 90% of the scratches removed. I feel that if set my mind to it, I could get out the other 10%, but as it stands it looks almost new now and I am satisfied.

Yup, Great Product! - The stuff I used was Meguirs Scratch X 2.0 and it returned my center console to 'like new condition'. This is really the first time I tried to get out the scratches in over 3 years of ownership.
My scratches were all the tiny micro scratches that come from everyday use of setting sunglasses and stuff on the console. They were not deep scratches.
