Default Side Mirrors after placing in reverse problem

I have a 2006 GS300 AWD fully loaded with ML and NAV. Just noticed that I may have an issue with the left side mirror when going into reverse (actuators to rotate them down do not return the mirror to original spot). Anybody have this issue? I'm out of the lexus warranty, how much to fix on one side?

super common. use the search tool and you'll find this complaint has to do with the plastic gears inside of the mirror. You only choice is to get a new mirror from the dealer (or a used one from ebay). The gears aren't sold separately. Good luck!

yup, pretty common on lexus. they don't have replacement gear, only the whole assembly and you probably don't want to know the price.

i say try ebay and try to find a junk one for replacement

How about setting the mirrors where you want them and disabling the reverse feature?

I had exact same problem, i went to the dealer and had the both mirror assemblies replaced under warranty. If you are off the warranty i feel bad for you its $1,500 a mirror.

i have a similar issue and on top of that, my mirrors dont even go down when i put in reverse (i make sure that i have the left or right side light on to enable the feature) and have taken my car to lexus twice already for this. the first time, they claimed it was working properly. the next time, they acknowledged it was a problem but only greased the gears as they said it was extremely dried out. that worked exactly 6 days. now i have my 3rd appt next week to (hopefully) reslove this issue. i have an 07GS350 AWD with 62k on the ODO, but an extended warranty from lexus so this should be covered

I have same issue, does anyone have any idea on how to disable the mirror reverse feature? There should be a connection from the mirror to the reverse gear.

Isn't that feature just useless and annoying? should just disable the feature. Nobody needs to see the ground anyhow.

if you dont want the mirrors to tilt down then on the drop down box, set the switch to the middle so neither the L or R is selected. doing so will stop the mirrors from tilting down in reverse.
