Thanks for the information, after I read this post, I contact my local Lexus dealer about it, they check the system and tell me no recall at this time, I had this issue long time ago (Run rough after coming to stop), and I always think that is normal until I read this post.

I don’t know how to do right now, I checked my VIN number is smaller than the production change effective VIN, is that mean my 06 GS300 need to repair this time?
If so, how to tell Lexus dealer about this issues?

Thanks.

^^This is NOT a recall. Far from it, really. It's a technical service bulletin should a vehicle come in with the said symptoms.

Sorry guys, quick question? How do I know if my car has carbon build-up? by looking at the tailpipes? or rough idle?

Guys, it seems I have a problem with my dealership.

They agree that the new TSB should be performed given my symptoms but they are telling me that they cannot perform the valve springs prerequisite TSB without any fault codes. I tried to explain that the wording in the TSB is such that it is a prerequisite and that what it's saying is if you perform the rough idle TSB that if the valve spring tsb has not been performed and the VIN is before the production change that it is calling to perform that regardless of what the older TSB states. They don't seem to agree with me, even though it seems pretty self explanatory.

A big part of the problem is that there don't seem to be any canadian equivalent tsb for this new rough idle one even though it's been a couple of weeks since it came out in the US. Any tips on how I can convince them that if they agree the rough idle one should be performed that they need to BOTH be performed? Should I attempt to contact lexus corporate canada about this? My experience with them has been pretty lame in the past and they always tell me that I need to go through the dealership whenever I have a concern.

It seems that all I can do perhaps is to wait and hope they get off their butts and release the new tsb for lexus canada soon. But even then, I don't know how I can convince them that because the valve spring tsb is a prerequisite to the rough idle tsb that the conditions on the valve spring tsb don't matter and only the conditions on the "parent" tsb should apply.

BEFORE starting the repair procedure, the following MUST be confirmed:
Is the VIN applicable to TSIB No. L-SB-0087-08, “M.I.L. ‘ON’ DTC P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303,
P0304, P0305, or P0306”? (Was the vehicle produced BEFORE the Production Change
Effective VINs shown below?
)

2WD JTHBH96S#65027366
4WD JTHCH96S#60014171

YES — Perform the repair outlined in TSIB No. L-SB-0087-08 BEFORE performing the
repair noted in this Service Bulletin.

• NO — The VIN is NOT applicable or TSIB No. L-SB-0087-08 was already performed prior to
this occurrence. Proceed to step 1 of the Repair Procedure in this bulletin.
I'm not sure how this can be interpreted any differently???

Wow, I agree, definitely can't see how it could be interpreted differently. Does Lexus have the equivalent of a "Zone Rep", basically a factory guy who can be a consumer advocate with the dealership? I know in the past when I got the MB zone rep involved, meeting locally with him and the dealership, things got resolved just fine and very reasonably.

They told me they've emailed Lexus Canada about my case, so I suppose somebody higher up is already getting involved (though I'm not sure exactly who they are emailing). Hopefully they will get approval to go ahead and do the complete repair because I am really tired of the shuddering and weird idling.

UPDATE: just got this TSB done today, they had the car overnight, and did the thing where they removed the plugs, poured in the cleaner etc.....anyhow, $400+ repair chalked off to Lexus. Car runs fine. Here is my question, how does this help keep your car from having same issue in the near future?

A second thought.....if you are around 60k, ask your service advisor to put in new plugs for you and pay for plugs.....save yourself the 300 in labor for the plug change at 60k. They also do an oil change for you as a part of the TSB.

They didn't do the valve springs too, even though it says they're supposed to? Silly me already paid to have my plugs done ... ahead of schedule... BECAUSE it was close to when it was due and I thought it might help the very problems that this new TSB is supposed to fix. :|
