I typically see a 2mpg reduction with ECT in Power mode.

I get consistently around 22mpg in city driving, and mostly just for short < 10 minute trips.
i am exaggerating, but not by much. 0-60 is more like 6.9. It is the slowest mid-luxo sport sedan. mostly due to the undersized 3.0. I mean even teh Altima has a 3.5. And the camry. No wonder Lexus immediately realized their failure, and brought out the GS 350.
Besides, dunnojack called the 300 'weak sauce' so there it is. Epic Fail.

I came to this conclusion about 8 months ago, and since then I keep it on PWR all the time.

My happy feet got only 23.59mpg.

Right now I do mostly cruise at 65mph (boring) and get 26.3mpg (10% increase).

Next I gonna try on Power Mode. I don't think it make much different when doing cruise (aka constant speed).

I drove for about 50 miles on the freeway (some stop and go) then checked my MPG. To my surprise, the reading was 27.8 MPG!!! It subsequently dropped to 26.7 MPG when I came back home in heavier traffic. I noticed that at 80 MPH the RPM's appeared to be lower than what I am used to seeing. Also, the car down-shifted faster as I braked to slow down and came back up to speed faster with normal pedal pressure applied. It's too early to reach any conclusions, but I have never gotten more than 25.6 MPG max. Could be happenstance or it could be that faster gear changes put less drag on the engine and thus better MPG. So for now, I will continue to keep it in ECT Power mode and see over time if this really works.
After driving in ECT Power Mode for awhile, I have concluded that it does not increase gas mileage.

I consistently have gotten 24.5 since I purchased my car and that is combined city/highway even with the air conditioner on...I came from a Hybrid so I am quite pleased with the mileage I am getting out of this vehicle. I have never gotten under 22 mpg's. I also drive like a grandma!!

i tried normal and power mode for my driving for 2 tanks. absolutely zero gain. in fact if i am not "cautious" when driving in pwr mode, i burn more gas

the RPM in power mode is really sensitive. Any hard change in break or gas will cause it to down shift.

lol.. same here. i was more concerned about not pressing gas too often.. maybe this is how we get the better mpg?

that's actually what i thought too. on one tank i actually drove as "normal" and gas mileage ended up worse

No, it wasn't random. It was sensitive. What's a bit strange is when stepping on the break, it will down shift and doing the engine break and when step back on the gas it's still in that low gear so the car jump right up and full of power.

I have seen a 2-3 mpg increase when in econo mode. THe car doest drop gears as easily so you are not going to find yourself in the higher rpm range as frequently
