You do need winter tires but it is so much fun to drive, who needs an AWD? I was looking for ways to get the car stuck in deep snow, did not happen. You step on the gas it goes, you hit the brakes it stops! I just wish that I could drive it with more snow on the road, but I'm lowered and dont feel like plowing snow.

Blizzaks also in my 2GS in Europe. Work very well, in particular on snow, though on wet ice they do struggle. Naturally on slippery roads AWD can climb hills easier and accelerate much better from stop lights. Plus cornering is better. Just breaking is no better than with RWD..

Do all you guys run your winter tires on standard rims or do you go skinny?
We normally don't need to think about winter tires in my part of England, but this winter is proving harsher than normal,as was last winter.
I currently have 225/45 on 17" rims and I am thinking of buying a separate set of winter wheels with tires to match.
So much for global warming,eh?
