Default New GS owner with a few questions & observations

Hello all,

I just bought an 06 gs430 cpo car that has 29k miles. I love it and wanted to know a few things from the forum.

Firstly, my wife was driving it tonight and when she pulled in the driveway as it was getting dusk I noticed that only one headlight was on. She turned them off auto then back to on and they both came on. Are the headlights covered under the orig manuf warranty? What should I look for or do about it?

Secondly, when I got into the car this morning it was on satellite mode and there was only sound coming from the drivers side dash speaker. I changed it to FM and then it went to working on all speakers. I then changed it back to sat and it still only worked in the 1 speaker. My wife drove it today and when she got home I checked again and it seemed to be working fine on all modes. Any ideas as to what I should do? The sirius sat was a dealer add on when bought new in 2005 so will that affect the warranty?

Thirdly, I have put about 350 miles on it since buying it. The car was sitting on the showroom floor when I bought it so it is safe to say it was impeccably clean when it left the dealership. The brakes are new and the brake dust on the front wheels is horrible. What should I do about that as well?

I was thinking on taking the car to lexus to have them address the issues but wanted to get on here first to see what fellow owners had to say!

thanks in advance,
Mike

First two issues should be covered by warranty. Third issue on the 2007 and later GS cars is covered by a TSB that provides for installation of dustless brakes (search this forum). Hopefully it extends to 2006 model as well.

need to look at the original purchase date of the car to see if factory warranty still applies. but since it's cpo you should be at least covered under cpo. the first two problems you just need to demonstrate to dealership and they will cover it

the brakes like modeler mentioned, there is a tsib that you should be able to take advantage of

modeler & romini,
thanks for the quick replies. the car is still under factory 4/50k until mid november 2009. i may just swing by the dealer today and speak to an SA to see what they say. my concern will be trying to replicate the headlight and stereo problem but i will see if they continue over the next couple weeks of driving.

thanks again for the guidance

if i recall correctly, the dustless brakes have less "bite" or braking than the dusty oem ones. i believe some members have complained about that. so there is a trade off.

to OP: welcome to CL

there are people who complained, and then there are people like me who don't notice much difference

i noticed very little difference as well. i said before that the "Low brake dust TSIB" was the best dollar for dollar mod i ever did. ($0 dollars invested)

i went from cleaning my wheels daily to mayyyyyyybe once a week.

Even if you can't duplicate the problem in the presense of service staff, just getting your complaint on record while in the warranty period usually works. On several occasions the dealer has fixed things for me after warranty as long as I complained before it expired.
