Great Iphone or ipod solution With a big bonus ( Vais MultiMediaLinq )
I don't know why I haven't heard much about them but I just installed Vais MultiMediaLinq along with a PS Nav bypass and it works so nice. The VML from Vais has a USB port you can plug any flash drive, usb hard drive, mp3 player, Iphone or Ipod. It has the ablility to control the ipod or iphone and sort it by artist, album and playlist they told me it will soon have an update available to sort by podcast and audiobooks as well. It will also hold a hard drive inside of it so I installed a 100gb hard drive and copied all of my stuff directly on to it. I also installed the PS nav bypass and they compliment each other perfectly.
I have heard a couple people say it was tough browsing for songs but I just set my folders up with the name of the artist and album in the folder title so it makes it easier. The VML sets up a cache so it browses faster to so I don't see the problem.
I used the example I saw in the link below to install my PS nav bypass switch and it tured out great (I didn't use glue though I put notches in the sides of the switch blank and clipped it in place).

I installed the MultiMediaLinq in my glove box because there is a small pop out panel inside the gb on the stereo side and it works perfect "no drilling". There is also a pop out panel in the bottom of the arm rest storage box I used for the usb cable. It all turned out very nice and no drilling on anything but the blank switch cover I purchased to make the Nav bypass switch.
In summary anyone looking for an Iphone of Ipod solution go for the MultiMedialinq it is under $300 and is much more flexible than any other ipod interface I have seen and don't forget to get the Nav Bypass when you have it all open to install the Vais.

My Vais kit is a couple of years old (not multimedialinq) and the ipod browsing is very clugy. Playlists show as disc numbers on the cd input and there really isn't much browsing capability. Not nearly as feature rich as you describe. The unit works fine and is controllable via touch screen (to the extent it has features) but isn't anything close to Ipod emulation. I have a Gen4 system and even the kit I bought was slicker when installed on newer Gen5 systems like yours.
But good tip, I'll be looking to see if this retrofits with all the features you describe.

My 2006 has the gen 4 head and learned that the same kit I have works much slicker with the gen5 system. I havne't checked for a firmware update lately but there was one that came out right after I bought my Vais and it applied to Gen5.
Your 2007 has the Gen5 system. So good tip, I'll be looking to see if this retrofits with all the features you describe.
