Default Brake noise wile making tight turns

HI,

2006 gs300 rwd

I have been having a problem with my brakes. I went to have new brakes done at the dealer since i keep hearing crunching, popping noise when I make tight turns while braking.or turning into parking spots. Not loud but i can hear it. They put new brake pads in and resurfaced the rotors. The noise was gone for 2k miles. now its back on the right wheel. I went back to the dealer and the shop specialist said it was normal. So i went and test drive 2 used ones and no noise. He regreased the shims and noise went away for 2 weeks and now its back on the drivers wheels. it only makes this noise while making tight turns and braking.or parking in a parking spot.Anyone have this problem? is this normal? any recommedation? If anyone had this and had it fix please share with me what they did? I am thinking of having them replace the rotors and shim kit. Dont know if that will help? Thanks everyone in advance.

I would have to agree that it it may be normal. Your GS has the smaller 2 piston calipers where the pads mount to the caliper bracket differently than the 350/430/460 models with the larger 4 piston calipers. Your pads not only have shims but mount to the calipers on spring-type hardware that the larger brakes don't use. These springs allow the pads to shift up and down. I suspect that's what you're hearing. The cars that you test drove may have a set of stronger brake hardware. Something you may consider changing on your vehicle.

Note what I wrote. "The cars that you test drove may have a set of stronger brake hardware"

I understand that they have the same brakes, but not the same HARDWARE. Think of it this way. The cars you drove probably have the same sized tires but were they all worn the same amount? Same with brake hardware, the springs wear. I've probably replaced hundreds of sets of brakes and have seen this issue a gazillion times.

Just my $.02.

It's your brake hardware that actually holds your brake pads in place. They snap onto the caliper bracket, typically.

Same problem here. BigRed88 did you ever get the issue sorted out?
I actually went the extra mile to make sure that my run out was within spec.
All 4 wheels are down to 2 thousandth of inch or less. Still the noise persists on the rear.
My last resort is to replace those parts you said here:
http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/par...id=90252&all=Y
As far as the shim kit, my valley lexus dealer here in Modesto, CA wants
about 80 dollars just for the rear shims!@!
Will post back after I get the parts from sewell and change out.

I had the same problem usually when i am going very slow and it would make this harsh sound from driver rear wheel. Its ended up being a seized pin that didn't retract the brake pads all the way. Check this thread and check ure caliper.https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...slide-pin.html

Well, I pulled the pin out all the way to lube them and guess what---the rubber grommet that sits at the end of the slide pin was out of spec. (it was too big now to go back in!)
After a 20 minute drive I actually found the part at Kragens of Ceres, CA.
That still didn't fix my issue. Then I noticed the parts from Sewell http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/***...l=202&year=160
Specifically part 04946-30070
Lexus OEM Anti Squeal (For Rear Disc Brake) Shim Kit. If you click Larger Image and zoom in you can see that there is a "W" looking spring. My guess is this keeps that part that keeps the pads in from Moving side to side.
I will order this part and will have pretty much have replaced everything there except for the caliper and brake lines!
Will definitely post back!
