Default Diy rotors and pads replacement

I tried my best looking for some DIY for replacing my rotors and pads on my 2006 GS300 AWD, but with no luck. Any quick links or references? If available.

I can help what are you looking for?

here is the rear pads / caliper that should be the same on your rear: LINK This was done on my IS350. The rear brakes have a pivot, loosen the one bolt and they will swing. You can then just tap off the rotor on the rears. Let me see if I have pics of this from my GS.

Your front caliper is different then my IS and GS are since they had the OEM big brake caliper. I would think your fronts should pivot just like the rears do.

I am aware of many of the regular details when doing a replacement, but is there any thing I should be aware of when replacing ads and rotors? For example, will the caliper piston pushes back or does it need the special tool? I am not looking to bleed and so on.....Also, will things such as a rear brake emergency brake cable need to be loosened on these things? Or is it just simple. I need wrenches sizes and do I need to reset anything once all is done? Thanks

you dont need to bleed the brakes unless you remove a line

I had to do nothing on the GS or the IS when I did mine. Just replace them and you are good to go. Have a C-Clamp handy as it will help just as you may have used before. Really nothing special you need to do

Thanks you guys! This should be similar for the GS300 AWD correct? At least I am assuming it is.

One more question please. I am also paining my calipers using the G2 kit and will also spray some clear coat after placing the decals on. Do you think it would be less tedious to do it while the caliper is off or on the rotor? Of course I will do all of this after replacing the rotors and pads.

i would do it before u replace everything, so the new pads/rotors dont accidentally get paint on them. make sure when u clamp the pistons, u compress them slowly, other wise you risk damaging them.

But if i paint first, don't you think the paint will get messed up or scratched somehow from the C clamp or from bumping it against something?

hmm, good point, but not if u let it dry all the way and u put a towell between the paint and the clamp?

True, but I am using the G2 kit which is a brush and not a spray. Also, I will tape and mask everything else so I won't take any chances. If I do it the other way around I am pretty sure my chances of ruing the paint are more because I know my self lol

take the pads out, compress the caliper and then paint it if you want. once thats done then all you have to do is put the new pads in and put everything back together.

just paint them with everything together. I wouldnt do it before you make the change because you can scratch it with the tools. I used the brush on in my last car and it worked great. If you get anything on the tips of the pads NO one will ever see it and it wont harm anything.
