Default Quick question

I recently just noticed some GS don't have the roof mounted sharkfin antenna but most of them do, what option makes you have the sharkfin and what's the purpose?

I have heard it's the satellite radio but can anyone confirm?

While I can't tell you exactly what option package installs the sharkfin antenna, I can tell you for certain that it's not satellite radio. My '08 came with the sharkfin antenna and did not have satellite radio in it at the time of delivery. It does now and the sharkfin is the satellite antenna but it was in place well before the satellite radio system was installed.

The later model GS have the shark fin antenna, although I find it kind of silly that the GS have the shark fin antenna and not the sat. radio standard.

The sharkfin antenna came out on the GS in 07 cars. Its on all of them from 07+. It houses the sat antenna and GPS antenna...maybe AM/FM too but that could be in the back window, not sure.

It's a vertical stabilizer which activates at speeds over 120 mph.

it does not have any relationship to the GPS antenna, nor am/fm....it is for xm or sirius use only and only if you buy the tuners for either of those.
