Default Maintenence menu

What is the purpose of this menu? I just reset the oil maintence warning on the front display but as far as I can tell the oil maintence on the navigation is pretty uessless. Am I wrong? Theres a ton of stuff to monitor in there thats not even being used. Anyone use this ?

haven't used it either and what sucks is if you did want to keep track of stuff...it won't let you enter the mileage (or the date...can't remember which) when the change happened if the mileage is less than current mileage.

Nope never use it. I just wait for the oil maint. light goes on when it's time to change the oil. Then I reset it afterward.

I think my salesman was a little confused when he walked through the car with me. He seemed to think that the maintenance screen on the nav was tied into the Lexus internal sensors for oil levels, battery problems, etc.

But that's not right, is it? The maintenance screen on mav is just a glorified timer/mile counter that you have to maintain yourself?

That is correct...or at least what I also believe to be the case.

I know the GS has an oil pressure sensor but are you sure the GS have a oil level sensor?

Maintenance menu is just a glorified counter and it is independent from the light on your dash.

If it's like the 2GS maintaince screen...say you want to change something in 5K...You did it 4500 miles ago...So enter 500 miles into the counter... Just subtract your mileage since you got it done and then put it in

So does the GS have a oil level sensor? I know some European cars does.
