I have an 06 GS with nav. My wife doesnt like to drive with the nav on so she chooses the SCREEN OFF on the display button. When you hit either the Climate, Audio or other button the screen comes on but is very dim and within a few seconds in brightens.
If you then choose screen off and within a few seconds hit any of the above buttons (climate, audio, etc) it is bright.
Seems that if you have the option set to screen off and wait a minute of two and then touch one of the buttons, it is dim and within a few seconds it is bright almost like it is warming up.
Not sure if I am explaining this correctly.
Does this happen to anyone else with an 06 ?

Things I would check are the brightness settings on the screen. Are the interior lights turned all the way up? if so that overrides the navi if you have it on Auto mode for day/night. It sounds like its going into day mode from what you are explaining but I may be wrong? post more info as to when its doing it and if lights are on or off.

This is happening in the daytime. No lights on. It just seems that if the screen is set to off and you turn it on, it seems like it has to warm up. Again, its only if I choose Screen Off and then later hit the Audio or Climate. The screen comes on, but very faint and slowly brightens to full brightness. While it is full bright, if I choose Screen off and hit Audio or Climate right away, its full bright, but if I choose Screen off, let it sit for 5 minutes or so and then touch Audio or Climate, it comes on faint and slowly brightens.
Almost like it has to warm up.
P.S. I did check my brightness and contrast and they even set to full brightness and lowering the contrast, it does the same thing.
