New OZ wheels installed
Well, this thread will not only show the new wheels I've installed but a couple of other mods I recently did.
But going back to the wheels, since my car is my DD as well as my guest-loaner car, I've decided not to lower the car. Therefore, sorry to disappoint, but I've decided to go (with some advice from members of this board) with very stock-looking aftermarket wheels in a stock 18" size (8x18 but a plus-one from my OEM 17s), stock offset (45mm), with stock sized tires.
Well, the result is still very stock looking (for a majority of the crowd but maybe not for 3GS enthusiasts or for car lovers who are familiar with OZ wheels). This is my goal for the car anyway (an anonymous looking car that I can still park wherever I want without people knowing it's me).
Okay, enough words. Here are the pics.
This one shows another mod.....yellow lamin-x on the fogs (with HIR lamps). HIR lamps have lumens between halogens and HIDs. I also have these in my high beams which is closer to HIDs in lumens but I will make a separate thread regarding these when I get the chance to take some night pics.
My car didn't come with a rear spoiler. Therefore, I've installed one as another mod.
Tires are Yokohama S-Drives. Really good ride and low noise levels. I can feel they grip a lot more than my previous tires installed by PO (Nexen summer tires). Wheels are OZ Palladios.
Overall, I compute each wheel/tire combo to be at 49lbs. 25lbs for the wheel and 24lbs for the tire. Lighter by an estimated 4lbs per wheel/tire than what I previously had which was 27lbs for the OEM 17" wheel and extimated 26lbs for the old tire (Nexen). Therefore, there is no loss in performance.
Comments are welcome. And, yes, I know, 18s are kinda too small for the car. But I wanted to keep the ride good as I've mentioned this is also a DD and my 2nd family car.

1st reason. Because my stock wheels are 17s which I find a bit small and which I am not really fond of. And I don't like the 17" tires that the PO installed (Nexen, in another name, Woosung).
2nd reason. Going with the OZ 18" wheels (which is lighter by 3lbs/wheel than factory 18" and even the 17" wheels) & factory 18" tire size (245s vs 225s for the 17s) actually provides a bit better performance while still retaining a decent ride.
3rd reason. I'd like the car to look different but look kinda stock as well so I can go places and people wouldn't even notice me (kind of necessary in such a small place and community in where I live as a lot of people here know who I am).
4th reason. Not lowering the car, therefore, 19s or 20s would look really funny and out of proportion with stock suspension.
5th reason. My warranty is expiring next month and I am going to purchase an extended warranty program. Going with 18" factory-spec wheels and tires would not give the dealer any reason to blame the wheels and tires if something goes wrong with wheel bearings, defects in suspension pieces and steering, etc.
I've given this a lot of thought and these wheels/tires seem to provide the best balance on everything that is concerned.
