Just read your entire thread - Yikes ! $1400 to fix it! - If they have to take off the dash to fix it, I'm not sure I even would want them to fix it for free - My dash rattles could come back. Also I always run outside air into my car anyway, I never even use the other mode anyway. We have clean air here in Minnesota
How much did it end up costing you for the fix?
How much did it end up costing you for the fix?
They just called me back and yes I did break it! - Get this,,,,, --- $1600 to fix it! I am passing on this fix, as it is stuck in the Fresh air position and that is where I leave my car about 99% of the time anyway.
It is amazing that I could break this thing as easy as opening a beer, and it costs $1600 to fix it!
You know, I think I might be looking at a New Honda Accord next time. They have rated higher than Lexus in the new Reliability ratings, and they were a great car for a lot less $$$$

laying on top?
Are you talking about the filter, if so tell us what brand, or are you talking about the filter mounting bracket just sitting there. If your talking about the bracket it does have two clips in the front that snap in place, I think you have to gently pull them toward you and the filter will drop down.

YES, recirculate on. But honestly once you get the glove box black plastic piece off you can either see the filter or
see the white door there. turn IG on and hit recirc button and you can watch the door open. It isn't hard.....just need to know what not to do.
By the way. about half the time the arm doesn't actually break. sometimes it just pop's the arm out of a joint and can be popped back in. If you have decent DIY experience, you could pull the glovebox out and check. Just need to be careful with knee airbag.
But for the thread starter, I would just leave it. nothin wrong with fresh air. Just you will now have to open that door by hand to change cabin air filter. And also, you may have the a/c system reset on startup and the temps go back to 75.

Pole Position
Mine was kinda the same problem i forced opened my recir door to get my Air filter out and ended up breaking my actuator and then took the car to Lexus and asked if they could fix it they told me they could do it but it wouldn't be under warranty even though my car is not even a year old and were trying to charge me like 4K plus extra for labor charges for which they told me they would have to replace the whole blower assy, my glove box and stuff but then i referred to CL and another 2IS forum which helped me fix the problem too and was cheaper for me to do it my self by getting the parts on Sewell lexus parts and the fix barely took me like 45 minutes i just had to put a new actuator arm on the servo and everything was back to normal i even posted some pictures of the fix even though its not a proper DIY it will atleast help you out on how to go about doing the changing process if thats what has happened to yours too. Here is the link with some pics of how i replaced my Servo actuator: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ics-taken.html also the parts are cheaper to get it off sewell and also first register on there and then buy the stuff you need that you will get the CL discount too.
