HID Fog Light Kit Questions
I'm thinking of getting a HID Fog Light Kit to match my OEM HID low beam. My questions are:
1) Is the 4300K HID fog light kit the right color to match the oem HID? I read somewhere that 5000K HID fog light kit matches better than the 4300K (but I'm not sure as I couldn't find that post again).
2) Can you install the fog light kit (the ballast and wiring) without taking the front bumper off? What's the best place to install the ballast (to protect it from water and dirt)?
3) 9006 is the correct bulb size right?
Thx guys.

1. I am not sure how would that work with the OEM HID I can tell you that a brand call Xtra Xenon is a very good brand they are made in Germany and that is what I have for both my Low Beam and Fogs.
2. Yes there is a way that you can install them without taking the front bumper off, just simply lift the car up a bit and going from underneath the front bumper pretty easy about a 30 mins job.
3. Yes it is the correct bulb size
Hope this will help

Not sure about what color will match, although I also remember reading somewhere that the 5K will match better than the 4300K. You may want to check with Steve/Xenon depot (forum sponser), he'll know.
There are a couple DIY threads with pictures on installing the fogs through the wheel well without taking the bumper off. I installed mine using the pictures as guides.
Alot of the better quality HID fogs will have epoxy sealed ballasts to minimize damage from water so location isn't as crucial.

Most likely the one in your car right now is the D4S Philips 42402 rated at 4800k per multiple sources, it's however, never confirmed (my eyes tell me it's around 4300k color)
so to answer your question
1) could be 4300k or 5000k, just because the company says it's a certain color (Kelvin temp) they will look different in colors when compared to different brands, I know, I've tried 3. I would stick with 4300k though.
2) Get a waterproof kits from mobile hid or wherever, you install it behind the wheel well with the wheels turned, bumper stays intact.
3) yes sir, 9006

also projector vs reflector fog housing will also produce different colors
so the best things you can do, or what I did on my old car
is to change all 4 bulbs to same brand HID for the closest match

You will not have 100% match. Since, you will have D4S bulbs at the top and D2S bulbs in the fogs (Yes, I know they're 9006, but they are based on D2 bulbs). Someone could argue, but I find D2S bulbs much brighter! Looking at Acura's, BMW's and comparing to Lexus, huge difference. Anyways, like someone else here said, change all 4 and you will have the best match.

Don't forget to put a drip loop in the wiring so water does not feed into the ballast relay.... it might look dry up in there in the wheel well, but with the deep rain puddles in FL water can get almost everywhere - I toasted my first relay set - so please learn from my experience.... btw, replacement relays from Steve were pretty inexpensive, so no big deal $$-wise.
