Default Cargo Net in Already Small Trunk Opening

for the 06+ GS models, i think most can agree that the trunk opening is small already. however, when i use the cargo net, it would block the opening even more, causing the opening to look much smaller and can obstruct putting in bigger objects.

just curious, how many of you actually use that cargo net and does it bother you that it obstructs the already small trunk opening?

and second question....i tried looking for alternative hooks in the trunk to hook up the cargo net deeper inside the trunk, so it doesn't block the opening....but couldn't find any other hooks for this. am i missing something?

as of right now, i took the net off....making the trunk opening MUCH larger (visually) and i definitely find that it obstructs the opening much less.

Yeah, I just keep the cargo net's top hooks off unless I need to keep something secure(which is 1% of the time)

my cargo net is always ON. most of the time i don't carry stuff that i can't hold with cargo net. and even if so, usually i can just use that object to weigh down the net and slide them in easily

Same here.
I just unhook the net if I need to.

I just leave the net unhook, I dont think I use the net once yet. Cargo net in SUV is useful, but not in a sedan with a small trunk opening.

hmmm.....so it doesn't sound like i'm missing anything, where you can hook up the net elsewhere, besides near the opening....that sucks.

I leave my cargo net hooked up all the time. On my 07 GS, there's a second set of mounting points for the net, found just as the wheel wells curve back in to the trunk (chrome square hooks) area and directly above for the upper mounting points (tiny black curved hooks). I believe the manual shows this alternate mounting position. I like this position better than up close near the opening for it in essence divides the trunk into two sections, which keeps things from sliding forward. I'll try and post up some pics later tonight.

I leave the net hooked up all the time also, but I rarely carry anything in the trunk. It would be a PITA if I was frequently loading and unloading.

I leave it hooked up all the time and find it handy for packages and items that I do not want to roll around or spill in the trunk. When I need more room it takes only a few sec to unhook.

Here are a couple of pics showing the cargo net in the alternate mounting position. Maybe the 08's did not include the upper mounting points.

o wow! i didn't know that

i thought those hooks are just for typical grocery plastic bags so they don't move around in the trunk
