Default Accidently put in 89 octane, now check engine light on, how to reset?

A week ago, stopped in a gas station and filled up. To my surprise, I accidently pushed for the 89 (mid-grade) octane. A couple days later, the system light went on. After I fried through the tank, I filled it up with premium, but the light is still on. Anyone know how to reset this light?

I dont think its the 89 octane, something else turn on that engine light. Have the dealer pull the error code and find out whats going on.

^ Agree, no way one tank of 89 will set off a CEL - it's got to be a coincidence and something else is causing a problem.

True.
My wife was using 87 for a couple months till I told her she should be using premium even if it is a lease.
Never had any system light issue.

Could it be a loose gas cap? That could cause the check engine light to come on. Tighten the gas cap until you hear several clicks. If the check engine light doesn't go away after a week of mutiple trips, you need your dealer to diagnose the problem.

true. i didnt fully tighten my car (clicked twice instead of 3, guess it really does matter) and after 3-4 days i had a light come on. i put 89 in my car by accident once also and i didnt have any problems

gas cap was my thought too, a loose one will throw the cel. if it's tight now, give it some time and see if it goes away. otherwise bring it to dealership

89 will not throw cel.

Interesting... my GS only says to click once... I don't think I can do it again even if I wanted to...

turning the gas cap so that it clicks several times is OK. you can never over tighten the gas cap. if can't over click the gas cap, there is something wrong, as that is a standard feature on all cars. you should get that checked out by your dealer (defective gas cap maybe?)

no i don't think it's a defective cap. it's quite specific on 1-click only. my girlfriends 2006 IS250 says 1-click and so does my GS. it won't go any further than 1-click. you can turn the cap just a bit more, after that first click, stop, then settle backwards to that click and that's it. so my point, if it says 1-click, then just 1 click. i wouldn't try to get another click out of it

Each and every time I fill up, I give the gas cap 2 or 3 clicks. It will do it without any problems.

I can only get my gas cap to click once on the 08.
