Default An '06 GS300 versus an '06 IS350?

A friend is looking at two similarly priced used cars with similar mileage. One is about sport and performance, the other is more luxurious and spacious.

Which do you think is a better choice for a used car? (Objective advantages in bold)

2006 GS 300
3.0 L V6 RWD (not the old I-6)
245 horsepower
230 lb-ft torque
0-60: 6.8 seconds
22 mpg city/ 30 mpg highway

OR

2006 IS 350
3.5 L V6 RWD
306 horsepower
277 lb-ft torque
0-60: 5.3 seconds
21 mpg city/ 28 mpg highway

I'm a traitor. I voted for the IS350

If I didn't need AWD and more room I would pick the IS350. Too bad it's not
practical enough

I got a wife and two kids (with 3rd on the way) and RX is barely fitting the bill some times, so GS over IS just purely for room.

I had the IS 250 and it's a great car.The IS 350 is much nicer but I like the ride and room of a GS over the rougher ride and tigher quarters of the IS.

That just totally depends on the emphasis on performance vs comfort in the decision. I'd imagine between those cars, that could go back and forth in the same person depending on mood.

as you all say anfor me, it's GS. i had an IS loaner for a few days while my G was at the dealer. its way too cramped for my taste. and not to quibble with the gas hysteria but +/- 1 or 2 mpg isn't a pro or a con. you can easily get that much variation depending on driving habits, no matter the rated mpg.

I'd spend the 2-3k more and get a GS350... best of both worlds!

I don't like little cars so I would take the GS.

For those reasons, I vote the IS350. I bought an ES over the IS/GS because those two cars are relatively tiny inside. Since the GS is too cramped for little kids and all their crap, I went with the IS for the better engine.

I test drove both with my kids in tow and my 4 year-old at the time barely fit in the back with the car seat on in the IS. She had her legs up against the back of the passenger seat the whole time pushing. In the GS, she was kicking, but not able to push her feet against it. The GS is not huge by any means but out of the two, it's significantly bigger.

I find the IS to be too tight for me and the back seats are too small to take passengers on long rides.
