Anyone else with IPHONE 3G?
ok, i held out until the latest version came out to get an iphone. overall, i really like it but there are a few things that drive my crazy. The main thing is the bluetooth working with my gs430. although its paired and works, i'm wondering if there is some setting i missed on the phone. the problem is when in the car and make outbound call...the BT won't pick up on speaker until the other party answers... what is that about? My TREO would automatically pick up once i made the call so i would hear every ring before the other party picked up...now it picks up when the other party answers (or voicemail) and they are like hello...hello and then i get connected.
Its driving me crazy. anyone else have this issue. of course the temp workers at the apple store have no clue and said call lexus. Its not the car b/c it worked perfect with the treo and it works fine now except on the outbound calling issue.
Any thoughts? suggestions? or just another byproduct downfall on the iphone

I had the original iPhone and now have the iPhone 3G. I have not experienced your problem with either iPhone in my GS 350. Rings come through fine.
My calls over Bluetooth, however, seem less clear with the iPhone 3G compared to my first iPhone. On a few occasions, I've had to switch to the handset because the other person said I was cutting in and out.
When I purchased my car at Lexus Santa Monica, they had an onsite Bluetooth specialist who helped me pair my phone and transfer phone numbers. You might want to check to see if your dealership has a rep like this who can assist you.

I hear the rings through the car system too, using a 3G phone. I do get a pretty sharp buzz for about a second when i initiate the call. sounds like interference. brief but annoying. doesnt happen on incoming calls.
is there a secret to transferring contacts via the 3G? haven't figured the phone side of that out yet. get to the car transfer button then it says to send from the phone and .....

I get this also. It's for a few seconds, it's really loud, and it's really annoying. Happens only on the first outgoing call. It happened with my previous phoen (a Blackberry) and now with the iPhone 3G, so I'm thinking it's the car and not the phone.

Not sure how that part is possible because you can't transfer phone books from an iphone into the Lexus bluetooth. Lexus has software that will show you what each phone can and can't do with the bluetooth, ask them for the print-out. I have an iphone as well...

To clarify, I never stated that I had the iPhone at the time. In fact, the iPhone did not exist when I got my GS back in December 2006.

a girl at the AT&T store made a decent point...she said the IPHONE has a new version of bluetooth built in (V2) and since I have a 2006 model maybe the BT installed was a older version...where as the 07 GS's have all the upgrades and maybe that's why I am the only one having issues.
Does this sound right? I may be SOL...
Any Lexus techs know of anyway to update that software for BT if there is such a thing?

I am thinking of switching to ATT from verizon. Verizon doesn't sync up well with the bluetooth system in lexus. How does it sync up with the new 3g iphone? Does your phone book sync or do you have to put the numbers in one by one like with verizon?

I use Verizon and have a LG Vx8600 that works flawlessly.

just went out and paired my 3G and it works fine. I hear it ring and connect. Did not hear a buzzing but just made one call. Noticed it gave three options on the phone when you call. allows you to transfer to the phone or use speaker phone and another option I cannot remember right now.

i think my issue is b/c my car is a 2006 model and the BT is maybe an older version. Apple is not even listed on the lexus website for BT when you do a search for 06 gs430.
will call and find out

It's a 07 350. My treo 700 wasn't listed when I got my GS but it worked fine. Lexus seems to be somewhat behind on the list they provide.

My BT will only ring if I use the Lexus unit to dial. If I use the iPhone to dial, then you only hear sound when "Connection" shows up on the screen. I just use the head unit to dial now....
