Default Wheel Offset for the 3GS

I've been searching and pondering about the wheel offsets and what is needed and come out blank even with the searchand reading the wheels section. I think it's just the lack of love for the 3GS so far.

Anyways here is my delema:

found a set of 8.5J front wheels with a 25 offset and wanted to know how it would fit with the fender and if cutting/trimming of the fender is needed

rear is 9.5J with 35 offset and what would be needed in regards to cutting trimming on the rear. let me know if this still needs to be in the wheel section and if so sorry for posting on the 3GS forums, but I'm just trying to figure out the proper offsets. PS I've seen 2GS putting on 9J with 25 offset front and 10 J25 offset rear without too much problem but would that fit on our rides?

All help greatly appreciated. THANK!!

25 offset for the front is really agressive IMO. My friend's asantis are 25 in the front and he had a lot of rubbing. he had to roll the fenders and stuff. the rear should be ok, the most u might have to do is roll the panel.

if u get a tire that maybe 235/30 or smaller, the front will not rub as much but knowing people on this forum, they will start with the "oh why would u do that? stocks are 245/XX blah blah blah" at the end of the day its your ride and if u dont want as much rubbing get smaller tires and stretch them.

that size fits without mods? If that's the case i found a set I really like that might fit. I was just worried about offset

dear Net Junky

what are the wheels diameter 19 or 20 coz there is a big different ?

if 20 inch diameter the 8.5 with +25 offset will rub with normal tire size you need to go with 235/30 or 225/35 if you lowerd the car.

and 9.5 with +35 offset you will be fine and you can even run fat tires 275/35/20

I've seen 2GS putting on 9J with 25 offset front and 10 J25 offset rear without too much problem but would that fit on our rides?
i dont think so its will fit even if you streach the tires

20 x 8.5 with a 29 offset? Odd, my fronts are 31 or 33 from what I remember and its rubs a little over hard drips and turns. Thats with 245/30.

What tire size are u running on ur 20x8.5? I would think smaller then a 245/30 with that offset.

TO OP, like snake said, go with a 235/30 with the 25 offset and you shouldnt get that bad of rubbing, if any.

Oh yeah, i forgot to ask Snake

How low of a drop are the Tiens? I'm on tanabe df210s, which is around a 1.8" drop for the front and 2" for the rear. That might be why I rub more then you, but thats only on hard turns and dips like i said.

you are on 8.5 +31 with 245/30 and you rub? that's odd. i am on 9 +34 (3mm more aggressive than you) and i am also on 245/30 and i don't rub at all. i am on tein and much lower than springs out there. maybe my 245/30 is a bit more stretch on 9 than 8.5. but seeing how conservative the wheels are, i would think i can go more aggressive without rubbing

It might be that your tires are more stretched, mine dont look anywhere close to stretched. Not to mention, I didn't roll my fenders or anything.
