Default Buying GS350 - get CPO or go with remaining warranty?

All,
I've found a GS350 with around 17K miles on it at a Lexus dealership near where I live. Right now Lexus has a deal where the have 3.99% finacing if you buy with CPO (which is pretty nice), but the car already has a good 3 years of original warranty left. My understanding is if I buy the car with CPO then the CPO warranty replaces the existing warranty on the car. Is the CPO as good as the original warranty? Should I pass on the CPO and save some $ on not buying the CPO and just get it with the original warranty (but lose the 3.99%)?

Just thought I'd bounce this off of the forum for some feedback. Thanks

You may lose the 3.9% but the cost of a non cpo will be thousands less. With interest rate at about 5.5% right now you will still be way ahead buying a non-cpo.

I'm sure your salesperson could answer the warranty question since it should be in black on white.

my wife racked up close 50k mile within two years on her gs300awd. I was advised by Lexus finance advisor regarding Extended Warranty...three years and up to 100k whichever comes first, bumper to bumper with no deductible for $1500.00. This offer is also good for those bought them used, non-certified as well. You must have under 50k. If you drive alot, buy non certified ones, and get extended warranty when you have close to 50k. Save some money if you could. Also, not much of the diff between 3.99%-5.99%.
I don't think Lexus dealerships would sell you a cpo vehicles as non certified. Because when they certified these cars, they are appeared on carfax as cpo, by whom and when and where. Gl

Thanks everyone. Yeah, my local credit union has used car rates at 5.69% right now. The Lexus dealer will only knock off $1k for th CPO so if I calculate it out over 60 months I only save around $200 if I buy it with the 3.99% over the 5.69% I typically only drive around 12K miles a year.

no, if you buy the exact same car from the same dealer and choose non-cpo vs cpo it is a difference of $995, which is the cpo fee charged to the dealer should they report the car to lexus in your name as a cpo unit

The bumper to bumper warranty is actually a bit better than the CPO warranty. If you drive 12K a year, go with the non CPO, is a no brainer.

I just bought a 07 GS350 with 30,000 miles. The regular warranty will be used until 50,000 miles and then the CPO takes over. The CPO does not cover battery, belts and a few other "maintenance" items, but it is preety good b/c you get Lexus loaners and no deductable.

I saw it online for $38,000, but was not listed as a CPO Lexus. Sticker at the dealer $39,000 & CPO. I worked the price down and made sure I got it as a CPO for about $37,000.

The 3.9% for CPO deal they have now saved me about $3,000 in interest over 5yrs versus a new car at 6%.

The price I paid was actually $32,500, but that included my 1998 GS300 with 130K miles. They wanted to give me $3000 for it, but Carmax had quoted me $4500 and I made them match it. The car needed about $1500 in repairs, so I didn't want to sell it myself.

Hi everyone. Long time visitor, first time poster.

I also just picked up an '07 GS350 with 35K miles, and I have a similar question...

I noticed there is an extended warranty program on the Lexus website (Vehicle protection program, Platinum or Gold). Since my car is not a CPO, I wonder if i can just purchase that program from the dealer?

Appreciate your help to a Lexus newbie here...

If your car is a 07, you have 3 more year of factory warranty. You can buy the extended warranty right up til the minute your bumper to bumper warranty runs out. You can get the extended warranty from your local dealer or buy it thru other Lexus dealer thru telephone at about 40% cheaper.

Gman..you mean you can just call a dealer and get 40% off?

Does it have to be a dealer that is NOT your own? How does this work?

There are 2 dealers here in the Twin Cities...but they are owned by the same company...if the above is true, I will need to call someone in WI?
