Default Broken side mirrors

Anyone else have a problem with their side mirrors? Early this summer my driver's side door mirror operation became erratic. Sometime you could adjust it, other times not. My dealer replaced it under warranty and it's been fine since.

Now the passenger side mirror cannot be vertically adjusted. When I push the adjust button, I can hear something in the mirror click, but that's it.

Looks like it's another trip to the dealer.

"common" problem on lexus, seems like gears (plastic) inside got worn down relatively easy

quite a few sc430 owners including me had that as well

I've had RX300 for 100,000 miles, and our RX330 has near 50K miles. The first time I've had a Lexus mirror problem is with the GS.

I have the same problem. Dealer wants me to come in so they can replicate issue. I have a feeling it will act fine while I'm there. I suppose I can push issue for replacement. Who knows with dealers.

yeah it's definitely a pain. i am glad my dealership trusted me of my past history so they just replaced them, but maybe you can use a video to demo it and show it to dealership

For those of you who have had the mirror(s) replaced, is it an ordeal? My passenger side mirror no longer tilts down in reverse and barely moves in general, but the driver's side does. Also, is it relatively certain that the driver's side will do the same? If I can get them to replace both at the same time, that means 1 trip to the dealer instead of 2 - that's always a plus.

you can't say for sure if one side fails the other side will. dealership won't warranty like that. they will replace the broken side. it comes painted i believe

oh man. that's crappy.

does the replacement fare any better? if it's the same part, it will fail again.

I've had my right side rear view mirror replaced....and now my left side mirror is failing as well. Warranty covered the replacement...it just sucked waiting for the mirror to permanently fail to prove to the dealer that there was really a problem.

i'd be pissed if the replacement failed right after your warranty expired.

One would hope that if you have it on record with them that there are problems with your mirror after your warrenty expires they will still honor you replacement needs.

Disappointing. I unloaded my pain-in-the-a$$ ES because of so many problems. I wouldn't have expected mirror(s) on the GS to fail so early on. It's always something.

I had my passenger side mirror replaced this week by the dealer. The dealer wouldn't order a mirror in advance of diagnosis, so my GS was there from Tuesday to today, Friday. The car was ready on Thursday afternoon. I had a free Lexus loaner car so it didn't matter to me that they had the car most of the week. Everything was covered under warranty. The mirrors come prepainted to match the specific body color and paint code.

The driver's side mirror was replaced several months ago. My service advisor said they were seeing lots of problems with the side mirrors across all models.

Lets hope the replacement mirrors have been re-engineered.

yeah, let's hope.

something like this should be simple to design, and shouldn't break.

everytime they replace this mirror, they have to disassemble your whole door. that's how things rattle.

I had the same problem with my passenger side mirror on 06 GS. I traded my 06 for 07 GS. Let the Dealer deal with that problem. Have had my 07 about 2 months no problem yet with anything. Overall quality of the 07 seems better. Much tighter with no noted squeaks.
