It's amazing how this type of question pops up every couple of weeks! Use your common sense. The fact that you're asking this question here should tell you what your brain already knows: this is a ripoff!

Shouldn't they do all of that for free if you've bought the vehicle from them? I have no idea about this but I hope when I bring my car in they dont charge me for anything.

I think what he's saying is that the dealership doesn't do a good job of washing cars. I decline the car wash because of all the water spots my dealership leaves. They also don't clean the brake dust off my rims very well.

Wash your own car or go to a car wash you trust.

Only the first 5k is free.

Did you have a BMW or MB before?

From my experience with the stealerships, I would definitely not get what they prescribe for the car. Most of it is crap extras, they supposedly do "beyond" what Lexus recommends. I compared what was in our manual, and what the stealership did for my 15k service, and I should have paid half what they charged me for their "extra" work.
I am going to only do what is said in the manual from now on, and I am going to do my own oil change from now on too.
DEFINITELY, DO NOT let them wash your car...my stealer just uses a pressure wash, and uses that squeegy blade to get the water off...They will mar your paint. Of course, this is my opinion..

That is an excellent price for the service performed!!!!! I'd jump at that price if they were essentially replacing all the fluids. I mean the are replacing oil+trans+diff+coolant+transfer+brake fluids, thats ALL the fluids you have in your car!!! Most lexus service would charge over 1K for all this. Take the deal and run with it!!!!!!

OR do it yourself.

Replace engine oil and filter-DIY
Rotate tires-DIY
Replace air filter-DIY
Inspect cabin air filter-DIY (they are just going to look at it, and put it back. why get charged for that?)
Inspect front and rear brakes-DIY (You'll know when your brakes are bad)
Inspect drive shaft boots-DIY (again, just going to look at it...)
Inspect tire pressure and tire wear (1.99 for a tire pressure guage and it's a DIY)
Check/replenish all fluids-DIY (you should do that anyways)
Check flange bolts (is your exhaust getting louder?)
Inspect body and chassis nuts and bolts- DIY (if it's not hand tight then it'll need to be torqued)
Inspect exhaust pipes and mountings-DIY ( if you aren't lowered, or going off-roading, you shouldn't have this problem)
Inspect battery-diy(I'm sure it's there)
Inspect brake lines and hoses- DIY (do you have fluid leaking? no? then they are fine.)
Inspect rack and pinion assembly-DIY (Is your steering wheel feeling loose? no? then it's fine)
Replace trans fluid- This may not be a DIY due to if you know how to change your trans fluid or not.
Replace differential fluid- DIY. takes about 10 minutes.
Replace coolant fluid- Again, may or may not be a DIY depending on if you can do it.
Replace center transfer case oil- i have no experience in awd, but i think it's probably the same as the rear differential.
Replace brake fluid Inspect fuel lines and connectors, fuel tank vapor vent system hoses, fuel tank cap gasket- ALL DIY.
Test drive vehicle-I'm sure you drive it every day.
Wash vehicle- DEFINITELY DIY

Its too bad for people who feel this way.I can agree about the car wash but the rest of the items listed should all be in your maintenance manual provided by Lexus.Sure it can seem a little pricey but look at what youre getting.A skilled tech not a jiffy lube hack. And a dealership that will stand behind there work if something goes wrong. Also Has anyone had a goodwill repair from there dealership. They consider your maintenance record when making these decisions. All in all its a little pricey but is the piece of mind worth it?

At 30k you may also need new front brake pads and rotors turned. I needed them, so a week ago the 30k service came to $483 and front brakes $271. No sales tax in Oregon so I don't know if that applies to you.

Quick Reply: I was quoted today around $530
