....Its a truck engine..for starters.
The 4.6 makes just as much horsepower, and only 33ft/lbs less torque.... which would go quite unnoticed in a vehicle that is about 1300lbs lighter.
I'm pretty sure also that the 5.7 is bigger, heavier and thirstier....so they real question would be 'why?' as opposed to 'why not?'

First, that engine is too big (and wrong) for the GS body.
Second, I would rather have the GS lighter with a turbo/super-charged engine instead of a heavier engine. GS-F, anyone?
Third, the GS would need major modifications to adjust to such an increase in power. I can't wait to see the outcome of the GS460...

As everyone has mentioned, the 5.7L is a truck motor and it will not fit into the GS engine bay. Also, the 4.6L makes just as much HP and almost the same amount of torque. The 4.6L is a smaller, lighter, and more fuel efficient engine.

I hope that Toyota brings back TT Supra and then uses that engine on various Toyota/Lexus vehicles, that would be so exciting.
I was disappointed when the S4 went V8 just for example and I'm so excited about the TT BMW's right now!
