For those of you who use synthetic Motor Oil, when did you switch to synthetic? I have a GS350 and it's at 10k miles right now. i am thinking of switching to synthetic now. any thoughts? I heard it's good to use the regular motor oil the first couple of times around then to switch to synthetic sometimes after - maybe around 20,000 miles? Is there any truth to this? Or is it time for me to switch now?

it's best to NOT go fully synthetic with your first change... let it break it...
BUT go full after that.
I did the blend they recommended for my first, and since, i have requested mobil one. i have about 16000 miles and counting.

Agree with Jace7, do not use full synthetic on the 1st oil change. After that go with Mobil 1, it is the best synthetic oil in the world!!!
In my college years, I had a 1996 Honda Accord. In 2 years of time, I put about 120k miles on it. The mechanic at the Honda dealer was amazed that my engine only showed the wear and tear of 20-30k miles.
Therefore, I would highly recommend Mobil 1!!!

To clearify my previous comment about the Mobil 1.
Actually during my college years, I used the Accord as delivery-car at my aunt's restaurant. So basically the engine has been taken the abuse... there are lots of START and STOP on the engine (average 20+ times per night, 6 days a week).
So I would said, Mobil 1 still do protect the wear and tear very well.

90-95% of the wear on any engine is during the first minute after start until the oil gets on the cylinders, having done 120K miles in two years is a poor example for engine wear, the cylinders were probably always properly lubricated, so the use of a synthetic oil here is moot. A better test for synthetic is repeated cold starts and stop and go driving.
