I'll let you know if they actually fix it this time...
Please do. It is a little colder in CO than Texas. I see we are back to the clips again from Lexus. This bulletin write up is slightly different than the previous one I saw. Interesting that the clip is outside the car. Sure sounds like it coming from inside. I just do not like them taking thing apart. Just like the bulletin says, be careful not to bend this or that. Well they did just that when I took it in for the seatbelt recall, bent the side pannel. If it works for you, I may just do it myself on the lower one.
Thanks

Thanks for the link, that was a fantastic write-up that you did on your 07 GS350. It kind of bothers me that a 50K car, especially from Lexus, does something like this. I really hope Lexus can get this fixed in the 08 model year, unless this is a design flaw on our 3GS's fuel tank.
No problem. All I can say is that the 07 model improves a lot of issues. The 08 model will probably be even better.

My piece of crap 11 year old winter beater (Neon) does not have any rattles (of course it has other major problems) .......... go figure.
First off, your piece of crap is so much noisier than a (stock) GS you can't heard the rattles.

Second, it's easier to make a 2700lb (or whatever) car tight than a 3700lb (or whatever) car, especially one with as many parts as the GS.

But you and I both know that BRACING will go a way to stop the rattles/creaks/squeaks on the bigger cars.

I just don't think they build the GS as well as the LS.

I still don't think that is a good enough reason though. There are countless other cars just as heavy and as complicated that are rattle free. I remember my 96 E320 didn't have any rattles in it at all.

Even the new IS which is not a light car and is even more complicated than my 2nd Gen GS has no rattles in it.

The GS is built in one of the best plants (supposedly anyway) in the world - the Tahara plant.

I mean there is no question that the GS is built like a tank and will probably last longer than me, yet they can't build a car without rattles??? It is almost as if they pursue the perfection in most other aspects of the car, but cheapen out in this department. It appears to be almost deliberate.....

We are not talking about a crack or pop over a bump, when it hits the resonate frequency it is loud enough to hear over a loud radio and sound like a blown speaker or bee-bees banging on the window at 100 taps a second. BTW, I just looked up my repair from last year and it says among other insulated things, “Cut tab and insulated left from window area” It is still the same in cold weather. BTW, if the cut the left tab driver side, they did the wrong one, it is the right passenger side uggggg. Left if facing the front, All the other stuff was done to the right area, so I can not imagine them going to the other side.
