Lens swap is a better option if you have the know how. Projection lense on cars such as Audi, Honda s2000 and TRX and range rovers can make the light look much whiter without giving up any lumens.

wouldn't it be a lot easier to just invest in some 50w HID upgrades?

IMO, the GS projectors are good enough.

true. when i had my audi it had the rugged lens and a yellowish output with oem hids. once i replaced the lens with a clear one bought on ebay the output became a nice white with a bit of blue/purple on the cutoff and the same oem hids.

i wondered also, the rx 330 has a perfect cutoff and bright and white with purple at the cutoff. why cant they just make the same projector for the gs?

wouldnt the 50watt hid affect the 35watt resistent projector bowl? or make it fade with time?

It has to do with the angle you are looking at it. The more you step off to the side, the whiter it will be. The RX's hid looks the same as GS to me, but later generation Audi looks whiter.

I talk to a few people on HID planet who change over to 50 watt HID on other cars with no problem. Keep in mind that 50 watt HIDs are illegal on the street and you have to change the ballast too.

it might be illegal but whos going to pull you over for hids? just say they came with the car. the worst they can do is call you a liar. lol

wouldnt this require full relay connections change?

Since you have HID already, you dont need a relay harness. The starting current is the same I believe, thats the parameter you really need to pay attention to, the starting amp is what melts relay, wires and connectors on a non-HID car. The operating voltage is higher but the factory harness should be able to handle it with no problem.

but im saying those aftermarket 50watt hid kits have differenct connectors. usually for regular non hid headlights. you would have to splice the kit with the stock wireing. i wouldnt want to do that.

I would not do any splicing unless you have to. You need to be carefull with the voltage rating of the splice material. The wire between the ballast and the bulb is usually rated for 20000+ volts.

OK guys, I just ordered a set of Oracle 6000K d4s bulbs from one of the vendors and will post some pics. My GX has phillips 5800 h11 bulbs and the light output is so white and a hint of blue, my GS looks too yellowish in comparison. I can post before and after pics. Unfortunately, i cant find decent d4s phillips in 5800k anywhere so Oracle it is, we'll hope they are not like many of the other junk out there.
