tunedrx, sounds like you're a V6 lover :-D i personally prefer a proper V8 in my executive luxury sports sedan, not a V6 that thinks its an 8. besides its only a matter of time before the V6ers get put in their place when the GS460 comes out. so ill let you V6ers toot your horn for now but be aware your GS350 will get stomped once the GS460 comes out. note this only applies to the GS not the IS. i think the IS350 is a fantastic car. as for the 450h.....thats just a strange idea. i understand it in the RX where it needs the hybrid system to save gas and perhaps even assist in traction in 4wd mode? but in the GS it just seems like toyota is trying to put too much into a car that doesnt really need it. and no gas prices are NOT currently rising, in fact they've declined over the past few weeks. perhaps they could go back up later but if you're worried about the price of gas, why are you buying a lexus? shouldnt you be buying a honda fit or a kia rio or a nissan versa? like i said i knew i'd get flamed for it i just think toyota needs to release the GS460 already so 430 owners like me dont have to sit here and listen to the GS V6 crowd crowing. maybe im just bitter cause my V8 now has to compete with the V6s until i can finally get my hands on a new V8. then again mine isnt stock so it has no problem smoking a GS350 anyway but nonetheless it is time for a new body style so ill be sitting here impatiently waiting for the GS460 to come out. thats my $.02

The 98-00 GS400 is faster than the 01-05 GS430. The 0-60 times for the GS400 back then was 5.8. 0-60 for the GS350 is 5.7 and the 0-60 for your GS430 is 6.1. Simple intake and exhaust mods don't make the GS430 that much faster than stock unfortunately.

Despite the V6 only having 2 less cylinders and less torque, Lexus has come a long way as far as pushing out HP for N/A. It's obvious the GS460 will be better than the GS350 when it comes out. That's pretty much common sense.

The GS460 is coming soon. Be patient guys!

well i guess people like the GS450h because you can save gas when you want to...and go fast when you want to...i mean what car is there in that class that can do both?...plus i think it's mostly for the green ppl crowd that like to put less emissions in our atmosphere...i mean i don't think even the new GS460 will be able to compare in emissions ratings with the GS450h...i mean even if you can afford the prices for gas and whatever...WHO wants to pay more for something like gas when you can pay less and get more mpg out of a car....i mean that is the reason behind the GS450h...like what they say...have ur cake and eat it too?...lol

I love 2gr-fse not because it is a V6, it is because it's award winning design. Anyone can increase cylinder and displacement to get additional horsepower and torque, but that does not mean there is any advanced techonological features implemented in the design.
The fact that 2gr-fse can flat out compete with 3uz-fe with 19% less displacement and use less fuel is remarkable. Higher compression (11.8:1vs 10.5:1), dual VVT-I are two of the main features that the outdated 2UZ-FE does not have.
For the $ spend with GS430, a GS350 rwd owner can use some of that $8225 MSRP difference to upgrade with bolt-on aftermarket performance parts and still have $ left.
Simple upgrades such as forged alloy rims and better tires to reduce rotational mass, not just unsprung weight, and boost torque across the entire RPM band. Tanabe just released a stainless steel, lightweight resonator back exhaust for around $600-700 for IS350, when it confirms an application to GS350, GS350 can further increase its top end torque.
The combination if better design, effeciency, and less $ wins my vote at any given day.

Let me also add that we have a couple of IS350 brothers that are currently running mid 13's in the quarter mile with simple bolt-ons like exhaust and intake.

Reading the debates about gas mileage has made me wonder if the GS450h won't be redundant once the GS 460 comes out. 25/28 in the GS 450h and the 4.6L attains 19/27 in the LS 460. I'm not sure of the weight difference between the GS and LS, but I would expect those numbers to rise a bit if the GS is a bit lighter. 20/28 maybe? I'm sure the GS 450h will get better gas mileage in the city, where it has the advantage, but I wonder which will do better on the highway. We'll see I guess.

im estimating the same mileage as the GS350 which is around 21/29ish for the GS460, engine is bigger but works less. My IS350 is almost making the same mileage as my 2000 prelude 5spd is ~21 100% city in summer, and its not even broken in yet.

MPLexus that was my point, just like the RX, the GS450h really isnt an astronomical difference in MPG for the premium you pay. it would definitely be a huge increase in a smaller car like compare corolla to prius, corolla about 35mpg(if you're lucky), prius with the same prude driver can attain 50mpg. but saving 2-3mpg, over a 20 gallon gas tank thats 60 miles MAX and thats being generous. and you have to drive 65mph in the slow lane like a grandma to get that mileage. for those of us with heavy right feet like me that would rather have a powerful engine in a midsize sedan the 450h isnt really purposeful. not to mention the GS350 gets nearly as good gas mileage and doesnt cost an arm and a leg.(ah there is a use for the V6 GS it seems). anyway you're talking about saving money by buying the V6 version tunedRX? well then i guess ill see you in my rearview :-D enjoy saving money. as my GS stands i can already smoke your 350 but that doesnt mean i wont be picking up a gs460 as soon as it comes out. i still stand by the fact that 8 cylinders in a car weighing as much as ours do makes more sense than 6 cylinders in the same car. not to mention my engine can do more work with less stress on it which equates to more longevity out of the engine. good luck with that 11.8:1 compression :-D

They are the same as the 2006 GS430 18" rims.

i'm sure this has been said, but how the heck is Lexus going to sell the current 430, when the 350 has more hp than the 430? I'd hate to be a salesman trying to push the 430...talk about torque all you want, but my guess is that the 430 is going to die a slow death until the 460 arrives.
