The 400h is the brightest star of RX series, however it draws a lot of legacy design from 1G RX. One example is RX300, RX330, RX350 all have S rated tires, as a result, max speed is limited by what S tires can handle, which is 112mph. Even though 400h has V rated tire, it is still limited at 112mph. It makes no sense with these increases of engine output, max speed remains the same.
Another example is integrated techometer with fuel level and engine temperature. With the addition of sequential shift on RX350, the techno panel design did not change. But doesn't placing the gear indicator WITH RPM on one panel gives better information? Does one need to know whether tank is full or not to shift into a gear?
Carrying a legacy design is one thing, but carrying a design blindly w/o thinking shows lack of effort on Toyota's part.

I too find it annoying that so many things are shared between Toyota/Lexus vehicles, but I guess they do that to keep the costs down and to get the most out of proven technology & design.

Many of the same parts I find in my Camry I find in my RX400h. At least they look the same.
The interior of the Camrys look too similar to the interiors of the ES.
The hybrid powertrain of the Highlander Hybrid is basically the same as that of the RX400h.
(This is kind of superficial, but it does disturb me sometimes that Lexus's are just gussied up Toyotas. Cheapens the Lexus brand name. BMW and Mercedes don't do this.)

i guess that is why the perception that lexus are basically better versions of toyota...but I believe other car companies like bmw, mercedes have parts used in other cars. Mini=bmw parts....Chrysler=Mercedes parts....bentley or some highly exotic car uses=bmw engines or something...so many companies use same parts on different cars to save costs...it just that toyota did it better with the lexus...i dunno if i this makes sense...all in all...it is to save costs...

You can't go wrong with the GS One-Eye.

What about an RX450h or whatever engine upgrade they finally make? Probably coming out about the time the GS350 does.

Or both. That's my plan.

Ok,

This isn't going to be helpful at all, but why not both! Man, I'm "car-sitting" my dad's RX and it's kinda nice having both to drive depending on where you're going. So convenient.... The RX gets you around and I've been thinking of going to buy a BBQ grill which would definitely not fit in the GS. But when I go out for a nice dinner or a night out, I take the GS. Too bad i'[m not "financially able" or I would totally do it. Jealous of you guys that have both. Bastards!!! Just my 2-cents...

i don't need two cars for one person....that's just unnecessary. i had three cars at one point and it was a complete waste of money paying insurance for all of them.

after the GS350 has been out for a while and i can get a good deal on it i'll consider trading in the 400h.
