I am a little surprised that the brakes are shot a 20K, however.
BMW brakes are covered under free maint. READ MY LIPS $0.

Better value? Plus you don't need to replace the rotor.

545i 60-0 121 ft, GS430 129ft.

Better performance?

i thought bmw brakes are only covered ONCE under the maintenance?

i guess the 2gs has the best of all then. very affordable brakes and 60-0 in 117ft

in any case, i do agree that the rotors shot at 20k that's a bummer. considering that even the rotors on my apracing has more miles than that

BMW brakes are covered under the 4 years 50k miles service. The number of time does not matter, its based on miles and usage. It is very difficult to wore out the pads on the BMW.

The longest BMW that i have kept was my 2001 530i which was still on original pads at 32k.

Brake job are expensive on BMW, but the stock pads should be able to last at least 30k.

I am suprised to hear that rotors are shut on the GS. Toyota brake typically has been good with no warpage of excessive wear. If this were a honda product i wouldn't be suprised. But on a toyota is a suprise to me.

I had tons of toyota/lexus product previously. All of them has quiet good brakes and long lasting. However, my current sienna went through its front pads at 25k miles. Previously my toyota pads lasted well over 60k miles.

Perhaps this is where the cost reduction is. Who knows?

My '04 Sequoia's rotors were warped at about 24K miles. Dealer replaced under warranty.

No. That is not true.

BMW rotors are only replaced if it is warped or worn out. A simple brake pad replacement does not equal to rotor replacement.

my rotors were turned via warranty at 21k miles. I'm still on original pads at 29k.

But you don't have the brakes of the 06 GS430.

The 50K warranty didn't work for my friend - he had 55K on his car. Can you hear me now?

He also loved the rear window regulator that failed while he was in Los Angeles seeing a customer- the window was stuck down , and it was one of those rare days here when it rained. As you can imagine, he was "as pleased as punch!"

The window regulator (with labor) was only $927 (out of warranty), so no big deal.

???

So what does this has to do with original discussion of replacing brake pads and rotor at 20k miles??

NOTHING!!!!

Also what does replacing a broken window regulator past 50k warranty has to do with your original post

I got it. NOTHING!!!!

The fact of matter is that BMW brakes cost nothing to replace and maintain up to 50k miles, which you need to pay on lexus. Nor does GS430 has such a superior brake over the E60.

So please explain to me how you make the connection from original post of replacing brakes and rotor on 06 GS430 with 20k miles to 55k miles replacement of window regulator.
