When you go to the lexus web site, enter zip 28277 to build a gs. There you will see what makes up the 62829 price. The biggest expense is the PCS and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Together, they add about 4K more to the price.

Default Paid $61,180 and LOVE IT

$61,180 (Total price including Destination Charges)

GS430
Flint Mica
Ash Interior
Loaded
5 Spoke Graphite Wheel
+$650 to install XM

I have a 98 GS400 (stock) with 317,000 miles on it (without a single major repair) before I bought my new GS430. I know that this new car is over $10K more than my 98 cost me but when I look at all of the new luxury features and mechanical technology that has changed in 7 years I feel that I am getting my money's worth.

This car is so completely different than my 98GS that it feels lke a completely different Class of vehicle and only remotely resemble my 98 in look, feel and comfort. I can easily point to over $10K of improvement over my 98GS.

Congratulations! Flint Mica on the GS is an awesome color. 317 miles on your stock 98? Now that's legendary Toyota/Lexus quality. You should send in a letter to Lexus HQ about your mileage story on your 98.

Now that's interesting!! 10 different package combos for zip 28277. zip 97223 only lists 3 combo packages with very little difference and no PCS. Curious I didn't realize that there were such big regional differences.

Default 98GS 400 317,000 Miles

I am looking forward to seeing my 98GS. Tuesday is our local GS Roll out event and I was asked to loan my 98GS to be used in the show. The dealer is repainting the front of my car to cover up all the pits that 300K miles will do to a car. They are also reconditioning my leather all to make it Show ready. They are also putting a 1st Gen GS in the Show as well.

Last Monday was an amazing day. I relunctanly dropped off my 98GS (to give them a wekk to prep my car) and fully expected to get a loaner but when I showed up I was told that my NEW GS had just been unloaded from the truck. The great people at my local dealer stayed late to take care of PDI so that I could take my new car home with me.

I am indeed lucky to have such a great dealership who has been taking care of me since my first ES in 92.

Could you please take some pics to show us! That is definitely awesome your dealership has taken care of you like that. That definitely proves Lexus reliability and strength. Don't forget pics of the ODO.

Default GS430's are selling quickly...

and the production has been mainly GS300. We also are sold out of GS300AWD's with Mark Levinson/Nav. For those that aren't interested in AWD or Nav there are a few 300's around. Those like looknow and highmiles will be the chosen few to get their driving gloves on a GS430 these first months of release. I would like to hear more from them about their experience with the car once "broken in".

Thanks for the news.
I CANNOT believe some of you are complaining about AN OPTION. You want complaining, you HAVE to get a loaded RL . So if you don't want all that techno-blah blah blah, your screwed.
The Infiniti M loaded is about 60k. And I do believe a 62k GS is a much easier sell than ANY 60k Infintii.
And does any other company off this technology? The pre-crash? I am not sure. Maybe no one else in the class?
All I see recently are a bunch of new threads by people trying to find an angle on bashing the new GS and they get CRUSHED by the facts provided by members, every time. So keep trying.

The GS430's price is just right. Look at the E500, you can option it out to being close to 70k. That's hitting LS range. The 545 loaded is near 65k. Lexus has made a lot of money in the past by selling its cars a lot cheaper, and now that they have gotten their image, they can sell it close to the competitions price (and make more money). I expect the next LS to be starting in the mid 60s in pricing. I like Lexus cars, and they are good at what they aim for. However, I want to see how many sales Lexus can keep up once their pricing reaches that of MB and BMW.

If your suggesting that raising concern about the price of the car is bashing the gs, then you have misunderstood the intent of my original post. I think the new gs is a great car in terms of looks and available equipment. I stated that “imho I think lexus went completely goofy on this” The word “this” was referring to price. Is all the new techno stuff good? Perhaps. Is the price premium lexus is charging for all of that equipment worth it? Personally, I think not. For those members who feel 63K on a GS with all options along with the same 300hp engine is worth the money, that’s fine go and buy one. The only thing that will be CRUSHED is your pocketbook
