Default Problem with sunroof drain (NOT clogged)

Hey y’all, having a problem but it’s not a clogged drain. Tracked an interior leak to the right front sunroof drain, water goes down the hole fine but somewhere along the line it starts draining inside the car around the kick panel area. Almost like it’s a got a break in the tube or is disconnected somewhere. As far as i can tell it’s one hose, so should I just peel back the headliner and start tracking it or is there a common issue that I’m totally missing in the 100 posts I’ve read?

I had a car that leaked between the flexible hose and the hard line/drain in the sunroof frame. Cleaned then sealed with RTV problem went away. Pulling a headliner is not as hard as you might thing just takes some patience. Either way with the headliner removed you'll be able to see exactly what is going on.

Cool, I’ll have time to check it out tomorrow and I’ll report my findings.

Forgot to say, also had one where the drain hose was pinched by the car jack. I peeked at the lines and they looked clean, also air was able to go through but in heavy rain water built up and leaked into the cabin. Odd things can happen.

Higher than that. It’s almost coming in at the bottom corner of the glove box, but it’s possible that the break is higher and the water is just riding down on the outside of the tube.

I haven’t search this site in years, but there was a DIY with pics that showed how to replace the hose. Use the sticky above.

Tried again today but couldn’t replicate the issue at all. It was draining way quicker out of the left side though so I investigated anyway. I’ve read about these drains going into a “box”, and it seems this box is just formed between two pieces of sheet metal and the only drains are gaps in the pinch welds. Seems like a less than ideal design. At some point prior to my ownership the first foot or so of the pinch welds were mangled and smashed. When I pulled the rubber plug (see pic) all the water rushed out so it was indeed making it all the way down the hose. I did my best to straighten out the pinch welds and open the spaces intended to let the water pass. Seemed to work much better now.

Still wish I knew why it was leaking at the height of the glove box. One of the worlds great mysteries I suppose

I never had a drain issue but are they vented in any way? Maybe the line got plugged up and the water came out a vent. Long shot but just trying to brain storm
