HELP! Lamp failure sensor on-int. third light removed
Hello!
I am glad to be a new member of the Lexus club! Just brought a 2001 GS430. I brought the car with a dealer installed OEM spoiler. When installed, both the spoiler and center light was hooked up. I didn't like the look of two center lights on. Well...
I proceed to removed the center light inside the car, then the LAMP FAILURE INDICATOR ON THE DASHBOARD came on!
Can anyone help me correct the lamp failure indicator (besides removing the light on the dash ;-) ???
I have heard of a lamp failure sensor which Toyota makes, and supplies with spoiler kits, which elimate this problem. True??? Part numbers???
Thanks for your help.
Bruce

Bruce,
Welcome to ClubLexus!
The easiest thing to do is to put your third brake light back on and tape over it to block out the light as viewed from the rear of the car. There have been many threads posting on how to do that, I'll try to find a couple using the search feature (highly recommended) and post it for you. If your car is tinted, it's hard to see and not a bad solution.
There are a couple of other alternatives, but they're unproven (as far as I know) or expensive (dealer parts).
Edit - here is a good thread with details (click here)
Another one - unproven (as far as I know) DIY solution
Taping the third brakelight
Some factory solution information
OK, that's enough to get you started.
You can always put a piece of black electrical tape over the light on your dash - that too is nearly invisible.
My plan is to eventually relocate the third brakelight UNDER the deck intact, just taped there, and replace the entire back deck.

No problem....just glad to help. No one should expect Administrators to catch everything in here because its just way too much info. I just remember doing this DIY and posted pics.

I was the one that have tried all kinds of solutions untill BananaGS showed me the GS warning light schematics. I found the connector in the trunk and taped over it. This is the best solution, it's been over a year now and I had no problem at all
