I had a vibration when I had the AC on and when I opened the hood I could tell it was coming from the passenger side fan. The whole plastic frame was vibrating when the AC was on. I would turn off the AC and it would stop. I turn the car off and wiggled the fan itself and there was alot of play in the motor. I wiggled the drivers side as well and it had play, so I figured I would just replace both. Took me about 45 minutes to do the replacement.

First I ordered 2 replacement motors for Rockauto. $69 each.




First drain some coolant out since you will need to remove the upper radiator hose.

Remove the items with red arrows.
The air tube to the fuse box.
Upper radiator hose.
Small Radiator reservoir hose.
Air intake pipe.
Air box (not really needed but it gives a little more room to get to the bottom left bolt)



From there its a matter of removing 6 bolts, 3 on top 3 on the bottom from the radiator fan shroud.
Disconnect 2 fan connectors, located at on the drivers side at the bottom of the fan shroud.
Lift out fan assembly.



Notice that the fans are different on each side. The passenger side has larger blades. The drivers side has more blades and smaller.


After removing the old fans (be carefull, the old screws are weak and can easily strip), install the new motors with the supplied nuts and bolts that come with the new motors. I put a dab of loctite on each one to secure them. I then added male and female connectors to each motor and the factory wiring

The new motor wire colors are the same as the factory. Blue is the power and black is the ground. Not hard to mess that up. I then shrink sealed the wires to keep the water out.

Here are the new motors installed.






Reinstall in reverse order and top off the coolant. I bled my system just in case there was a little air in the system.

Its been a week and so far no vibration issues and seems my idle without the air on is smoother as well, since there was play in the drivers side fan as well.

I have a 2007 RX400 and I'm having an intermittent vibration that occurs when I'm running the AC or the heater. When I turn off the AC/Heater the vibration stops. Does this sound like the same issue you are describing? Thanks.
