Default Denso 02 sensor part number issue

Im not sure if I'm just over thinking this, but for bank 2 sensor 1 the denso part number on previous threads says -4630.....but when you go to attempt to plug it in, it does not seat, and does not have the same guide on it to click in without any trouble like the stock one....im thinking of just splicing the other connector on if i can't get it. I don't want to waste 60$.

Anyone have experience? or should i just force it on.

Ate you sure the seal of the old connector did not stay in the mating connector or something? I can't remember which side has the seal

the car side has the seal. Are you talking about the orange one at the bottom? that could be the issue. I was thinking of removing it, but i figured it was for keeping out water of course.

Taking the part number from the stock one this is what it shows me.

Looking at a previous thread this is what part number comes up.

Bank 2 sensor 1 O2 sensor has a completely different plug than all the other 3 o2 sensors. The plug on the harness side should have a white perpendicular piece in it. You trying to plug it into the correct plug?

BTW...just went through an issue regarding this same O2 sensor as I had to change out the engine side of that connector. Was having a hard time making sure I found the proper mating connector

The plug on the harness side did in fact have the white piece, but the connector to the new Denso O2 would not click in like the stock O2 sensor does. Thats why I'm a little confused as to how the part number can match the location, yet this connector not click in properly like the old o2 sensor does. Thats why I was thinking of just splicing the old connector from the 02 sensor onto the new 02 sensor line that will then click in without any issue to the cars harness side.

Id be using environmental splices and seals as well. I'm an aircraft mechanic so i promise I'm not just twisting wires together :P

Take a picture of your O2 sensor connector and the one from the engine harness side.

This is the one from the 4,5,6 cylinders right?

My suggestion is to figure out what is wrong and connect it properly. As an aircraft mechanic, I am sure you would know what I am saying.

oh ok course. i know i can figure it out. I was just more concerned with the Part number issue as far as troubleshooting goes. I don't want to order the wrong part.

If it's bank 2 sensor 1 which is the sensor closest to the engine on cylinders 4,5 & 6 you ordered the correct part. Now let's see if the part you think you ordered is the part you got. Pictures of the connector will tell us that.

Well i ended up replacing the o2 sensor under the passenger side, and splicing over the connector for the one closes to the firewall to make it click in. well now of course the p0051 code is still coming back which is that sensor. So I'm wondering if splicing over wasn't going to work. i don't know. i just want this to go away and it seems like nothing is working. The car feels sluggish as hell. Seems like the trans is starting to go....it bogs through RPMS till it gets to 3.5 and all of a sudden jumps.

What do you mean you spliced over? You cut off the engine plug?

Why didn't you take pictures of the 2 connectors and go ahead and do this? Sorry..hack job! I hope you don't do this on airplanes!

Where in CA are you located?

BTW p0051 is for the heater circuit of that O2 sensor. Once you engine warms up, it will have no affect on how your engine runs. You have other issues.

HAHA. I did not cut the connector off of the engine harness, I cut the connector off the old 02 sensor and crimped them over onto the new 02 sensor. I didn't see the problem given that the wires are the same insulated non shielded wiring. I found a wire that was pulled out of that connector, so i took the pin out and put it back on there correctly. The p0051 code has of course returned.

What do you think the issue is? bad cat?
