I was sitting in my car and talking on the phone. When, my car decided to shut off. It's not cranking when you turn the key. Now, we spent a good amount of time looking at it:

The starter engages if you bypass the key.
The car still won't turn over if you put the vehicle in (N)
It had a viper, automatic starter thing on it, we removed that, it still won't start.
Checked the battery before all this, not the issue.

What am I missing her gentlemen/ladies?

When you bypass the key, how did you do that. Are you bridging the starter solenoid to the starter motor. If so sounds like the solenoid might be bad.

faulty starter solinoid still wont cause the car to shut off. you gotta watch out with aftermarket alarms. is your alarm bypassing the engine immobilizer or are you using an extra key under the dash?
