Door Locks Not Working
Howdy,
Another problem with my 2000 GS300, when I press the door lock button on the inside of my car (my key doesn't have automatic locking buttons,) none of my doors lock, it makes the sound, but none of them actually lock. I have to manually lock each door once I'm done. More or less a nuisance but it'd be nice to get it fixed. Thanks!

Man, looks like you have the 2 notorious problems with the GS LoL Again new brother, you gotta check out the FAQ/DIY page, the answers are there!
This problem looks to be the door actuators. One or more have gone out on your doors. Theres a cheep easy fix (if you're handy) Costs maybe $10-15 bucks for all 4 doors and lots of patience. Or you'll have to replace them for about $250 used for each. There is a DIY thread on both fixes.

Oh and one way to check which door (but is not the only way to check) is to open each door and see if the dome light turns on for each. IIRC, the sensor for the dome light is located in the actuator, a lot of the time (not all) if the actuator is bad, the dome light doesnt turn on either.

Watch the video on You tube but don't buy those little motors because that is a pain in the rear. Also, there is no need to remove the glass from the door on the front. I followed the video on YouTube and realized that it was an unnecessary step. again, skip buying and trying to replace those little motors, just buy the actuators. One important thing to note is that there are now cheaper alternatives to buying the actuators for all the doors: EBAY! I paid less than $30.00 for both front units and the same for the rear. You may need the cable if it breaks or is broken, but that was about $30.00 by itself.
If you only repair the front doors, something strange happens: The alarm goes off whenever you open the door.
Solution: remotely unlock the car, then remotely pop the trunk and open it..then close it, then just open the front door and it wont sound. If you finish installing the actuators in the rear doors also, this will not happen. This is only in the case that all the actuators are shot of course..which by now, they usually are.
The actuators share a part number with other toyota models like the prius and echo... Be careful, left and right are not shared by all models, do some research on eBay and compare the OEM part numbers before buying.
