Default Clicking sound from Heater / AC blower

Over the past few days I've noticed a rhythmic clicking sound coming from the glove box where the blower motor is located. It goes in tandem with the blower speed, faster clicking with faster blower speed.

Is this likely a sign that the motor is failing or possibly some debris has gotten into the fan somehow?

The car is a 2002 300 btw.

I had this sort of issue in my old cars, usually a leaf that somehow got past the filter.

dvdchance,

You have one of the servo motor on the passenger side that going bad. or maybe you fan motor going bad as well. These servo motor are very common it being damaged in our car. Take the glove box out, turn on the car, then the a/c and listen where the clicking sound come from. If is from the servo motor or the fan motor, you just need to change it.

Thanks for the reply.

Yea the sound is coming from right under / behind the glove box. It looks like a pretty easy fix right?

Actually that step by step seems pretty involved. I'm just interested in replacing just the blower motor right. Thats just 3 screws from under the dash, do I have to remove the glove box just to change it?

Nope... You no need to remove the glove comparment to change the motor. Take the 3 screws out and the electric wires plug. That's all you have to do and install the new motor.

Like Bhubb18 said, there could be something that has gotten past the filter and its rolling or brushing on the blower fan, especially if its increasing in frequency with fan. Servos going out won't increase in sound with fan speed.

Removing Blower fan just need to release the 3 screws, but the one in the rear requires a shorter screw driver or some kind of 90 degree angle attachment. Or else, you'll be wrestling with it for a while.
