Default Input on gray interior accent colors

Engine is done, exterior is done, time for interior. I'm looking at getting diamond stitched seats but have found from my past builds that light gray really kind of sucks for adding colors and not achieving that 90s feel. I did a search but it seems light gray doesn't get much love, either. What are the opinions on here for my interior color? I want to stay light gray, just accent with the stitching. My thoughts so far are dark gray, purple or burgundy.

I had grey in my GS300. As for what I did with it? Bought a GS430 with tan interior and gave my GS300 to my kid.

What would you think of changing the "walnut" to blackwood? I know that is not what you asked but I think that would accent the grey well.

There is a set on Feebay, sans the shifter (which are available separate)

I just bit on a set as I feel the walnut fits with ivory and ivory only. I have the black interior.

Are these pics doing the grey justice? It looks like the ivory to me. Can someone else with the grey chime in?
So much more subtle than the grey in my Camry.

Black, brown and white is more your speed as opposed to dark gray, purple or burgundy.

In my opinion, the stitching should match the top half of the dash. Adding a third color would be weird for me.

If you go with the dashboard gray, I don't know if stitching alone will add enough punch to the interior, and I just can't envision that gray as a good piping color either.

Having dashboard gray in the middle of the seats would add some more contrast without looking out of place.

The sportdesign with that color interior had black piping, the contrast was pretty nice especialy with the black wood

Black piping or stitching would look good. Hadn't thought about that. I like that thought a lot. Mixed with blackwood interior, hmm.

I did think about dashboard gray seats with light gray inserts but that might look luxury Dodge Ram-ish, ha ha.

If you're going to reupholster the seats, do the same light grey on the bolsters, alacantra/utrasuede darker grey on the inserts, maybe darker grey suede inserts on the doors as well.

I know its kind of hard to spice up that 90's Toyota grey interior. Its like the designers were so lazy, hey this grey in my cubicle would look great for all of our car interiors. Corolla, Camry, Tacoma, 4 Runner, Lexus, Tercel, they all have that same darn IMO ugly light grey color.

You are correct there. It's a great interior the same as vanilla is a great flavor of ice cream.

I was thinking about putting black carpet and seats in my gear interior, and going over the woodgrain with some 3M dark grey or black vinyl, as well as the center console (with the strereo, A/C controls etc). May freshen it up a little!

Dark gray or black carpet would definitely add some visual contrast. The gray interior in these cars is technically two-toned, but it all just blends together. The rosewood just doesn't do anything for it either, even though you'd think it would in theory.

I agree with that. I was thinking of waterdipping the wood to something like this

My car's P/O added dark grey Suade to the centers of the seats and wrapped the wood trim in black wood look vinyl. I'll be swapping my door cards to black leather, will paint the wood trim on the doors to gloss black and probablly do something else with the rest of the wood grain that's wrapped in the black wood look vinyl.
