Sounds like your decision is being influenced by emotion rather than reason.
(Kinda like convincing yourself that a girl still likes you even though she never returns your phone calls - lol)

KBB the car then tell the dealer what YOU will over THEM... then walk away.

If we always go according to KBB pricing, we would not buy many vehicles. If you like it and it's reasonable to you? Negotiate the best deal you can and buy it. This is my opinion. I would over pay/pay retail for something I like/gotta have.

There is something wrong with me. I don't lust for a LFA. Actually trying to find a 2013 E92 M3 in an Alpine white/coral red with the carbon fiber roof. Lol

In my opinion they don't. The price that you are looking at is WAY over KBB so it's not even in the ballpark.

03 Sport Design for $10K and low miler? Very nice and fairly rare. But at that price? Never, not even if I was driving in the desert just outside of Vegas and fell into a shallow pit filled with 500 bars of gold.

The Sport Design is nice but in the end, it's a GS300 - a nice car in its own right.

The Japanese were still being very conservative when they marketed the SD, and that's what stands against it.

In an alternate universe you would have seen a rare halo car collectible if:

Sport Design option 1 - the twin turbo Aristo's drivetrain and suspension had been sold in the US with the SD option.

Sport Design option 2 - the V8 option coupled with the SD had been sold in the US.

Now those would be cars worthy of a $10K price on the used market.

It's hard to find cars that age that are clean. Im a lurker and trying to get my post count up so I can post in the classifieds. I've got an 05(not an sd) with 76k that I'm asking around retail, but I know I'm probably not going to get it. But like I said, if you want a low mileage garage kept car, your hard pressed to find one as these cars get 10-13 years old. Most are high mileage hooptys that people are asking 7-8k for. If I was buying one id pay the extra to get what I want but also realize you have the negotiating power.

FWIW I paid $9700 for a '01 GS430 very clean with only 61,000 miles. If you've searched long & hard & that's the car you want, & don't have a number of them to pick from, make an offer. If its as clean as you say, you could easily spend hundreds fixing up a lesser car.

Dude, save your money and buy something else, sincerely. The 2nd generation GS is wayyyyyy to maintenance heavy. Trust me or you'll regret it.

Good luck.
