'98 GS300 rough idle and hot start
Hey,
I've bought a 1998 GS300 recently (2JZGE) and I'm solving it's aches one after other.
So far, I did plugs, brakes and ball joints that were shot and there's one last problem I have to solve.
First off, diagnostics pulled codes P0135(oxygen sensor B1S1), P0161(oxygen sensor B2S2) and P1349(VVT system malfunction)
When it's cold, the car starts just fine and idles well. The problem occurs when it gets to operating temperature. It's fine when I push the gas pedal, but it shakes, idle falls and jumps and it's sometimes trying to stall when coming to stop or/and when standing still. When you stand behind the car, it sounds more like wankel which points to the engine running rich.
I have tested the oil control valve, the resistance is within limits and it seems to work fine when I apply 12v. The little filter was a bit dirty so I soaked it in WD40 and blew it clear with compressed air.
The O2 sensors are a bit more complicated because unlike the US Denso, the European one doesn't seem to carry all 4 straight fit sensors for the 2JZ. There are just two in their catalogue, but neither of them has the position specified. I may end up ordering the 234-4048 and 234-4603 from the states.
Any suggestion to what more could I check? I've searched the forum and didn't find anything else I could check.
Thanks in advance and pardon my English

Update:
I've changed both O2 sensors and got rid of the respective fault codes, but that's about it.
Since my car is not OBD2 I tried the paperclip diagnostics and it got me code 29 (equivalent to P0161 before I changed the sensor) and 59. No one seems to know what should it be, but most people agree that it's connected with the VVT system and thus should be the equivalent of the P1349 code.
But I tried the OCV and it's got proper resistance, clicks just fine when I apply 12v and the oil filter is clean so I'm not sure where to look now

Remove theocv and test it on the bench, clicking just tell you the solenoid is clicking but does the other part at the tip moving. Take a fine screwdriver and pry the end ,see if it moves and return to the same position also check it where you can see the inside operating.
