The mods add no additional value unless you find a very specific buyer that like you, sees the mods as added value. Gray Book Value is as follows: $4250 rough, $6450 average and $8400 clean. So, take the middle between average and clean and you get $7200...somewhere around $7000 is going to be where it sells unless you catch somebody sleeping. Good luck with the sale.

Considering its your car and you know it inside and out i think swapping interiors is a smart move. Im sure you would hate to buy a different gs400 in your preferred color combo only to start having mechanical issues you didnt expect.

Interesting post. I just listed my baby for sale but I know it won't sell bcuz it's over priced but that's bcuz of all the mods and upgrades. Frankly I just tired of the suspension maintenance. I'll never buy another Lexus ever again. Really sucks bcuz it's a beautiful car. I get a lot of love on the streets. Here's my sales post:http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...7226/overview/

problem is everyone sees how cheap you can buy an 01 gs300. Most i noticed were around 2-5k when i was looking for under 100k miles. I noticed the nicer ones for 5-12k and figured why pay 5k more when you can have one for cheaper ..I dont agree with it just stating what the normal public would say. I didnt want anything under 5k because all of those are the cars with alot of problems

It's a beautiful car but no way you'll see anything even close to ask. Mods only lower the price unless you find a fellow traveler.
As a used car seller you are more or less stuck with the choices of that first owner: exterior/interior colors and trims. Drive train choices etc.
The 2GS is an aging body style. But there are some options that help preserve its value. Rare colors like red/cinnabar, or blue. Interior two tones. More wood trim including the wood/leather steering wheel.
And of course Sport Designs or V8's take the win.
