Default Time to upgrade, gs430 or ls430?

Finally at the point where I'm going to let my GS go, still mint with almost 230k and no issues, debating between an 04 silver on black LS430 and a black on tan 06 gs430 (3rd gen) LS has 138k GS has 108k but is 4k more, anyone here have experience with either vehicle and what would you pick?

I have/had all these cars and the 04 LS430 would be the safest and most reliable car however, the LS's technology feels OLD, i mean even tho the 3rd Gen LS is built after or in the middle of the 2GS cycle, driving the LS430 is great and all but the platform is just too old and feels old (to me the 3LS feels older than the 2GS driving dynamics, feel).. IMO, I would personally go with 3GS: GS430 or GS460 if you like V8's and GS350's if you want better gas mpg.. Plus LS's are more expensive to fix, take that into consideration too.

Yeah I know what you mean, I drove the 04 LS and it drives really nice, but doesn't handle like our GS do, I also think our old 2GS have aged better, I need to test drive the 3GS although I've heard they have some issues.

Currently looking at both, so I know how you feel. The only way I'll get one is if I can find a really good deal, but I will say this. It's tempting to buy an 06, but pay a little more to get an 07. You'll regret getting the 300 instead of a 350. Not only is it slower, it's not nearly as reliable (from what I've seen and what my service advisor told me). The LS is great, but like someone else said, it feels a little dated, but I did see a black on black one with the chrome 18s and tinted windows and my God did it look good

No I'm not looking at the 300 I'm looking at the 06 GS430 with the same engine as the ls430 and 2nd gen GS430, I've heard this is the most reliable 3GS model.

yea, don't TOUCH the 3GS unless its the 430 or 460, those are the only engines you should think about. Personally, the 3GS 430 OR 460 are light years ahead of the LS430. the ONLY thing the LS has over the 3GS is better build quality and reliability, but the 3GS is a much more modern car and the V8 versions are still reliable as far as engine/tranny is concerned. Interior/suspension parts will fail faster then the LS. It is all about if you prefer reliability/luxury or modern/sporty.

This is what i wanted to say EXACTLY too. but I was trying to be Polite with the GS350 owners.. As you can tell from my Signature I only drive 400 or 430 2GS, When I do upgrade to a 3GS, It would be Only the GS430 or 460.. Those that know only drive the V8's because of higher technology goes into their V8's..

What DMP said, all true..

Besides the tech, I would rather own an engine that barely revs above 3k RPM because there's so much power below 3. Besides the fact they are better I think the real reason the v8 Lexus engines last longer then the 6 is because they are more babied and not taken to red line on a constant basis. Hardly any effort is needed to drive fast. Drive both and you'll see. I was in the same boat as you two years back and went with the 430 or 460 but all the nice ones were above 20k and I said to myself, I rather keep my 01 430 and save up for the 4GS or God willing the 4GSF (if my 430 lasts long enough to save that money) :-)

Yeah I've heard all about the problems the 06 GS300s have and it seems the 350s also have issues burning oil. The 04 LS430 is nice but I'm leaning towards the 3GS430, I'm only held back because it has a tan interior vs the LS black, idk why but tan is so boring to me..

The 350s have way more issues then oil burning and the fact that there were so few made of the 3G430 makes it even better because you know it's built way better then the rest. Good luck finding a clean one though, if you do grab it right away

Actually was lucky, there's a mint black on tan 430 and a mint black on black 460 near me, I'm going to test drive them this week.
