Exhaust question, Y-pipe and cat replacement
Hi,
I searched and didn't find the answer, hoping one of you guys can help me. I just purchased a 1998 GS400. The Y-pipe is rotted and it is really loud. I want to replace that part of the exhaust, but I don't want to pay the Lexus dealer 600 bucks to do it (not knocking the Lexus dealer, just don't have that kind of cash!). I'd like to buy the part and have a local mom and pop shop put it on. Would someone please give me a recommendation for ordering a Y-pipe? I think I need the part that has the catalytic converter attached to it, but not sure (the catalytic converter looks ok, but I don't know how involved it is to cut and reweld all of that. Also, I'm not really concerned about adding performance.
THanks in advance!

Club Lexus vendor My L Parts has the OE part HERE.
I searched the 2GS forum for "y-pipe" and found all THESE threads. THIS thread talks about a Magnaflow pipe that can made to fit.
Personally I would just visit a local exhaust shop and see what they would charge for a mandrel-bent (no kink) custom y-pipe. Chances are it will cost less insatalled then an OE or aftermarket pipe before install.
