Default GS300 trunk liner removal??

I have all the plastic rivets out but on the driver side of the trunk/cargo area there is a neon latch/trunk release. How do I remove this to release the trunk liner?
I read on this forum you have to take out the metal arm but I also read you can just pull the front plastic trim off from around the latch?
So what is the correct way to do this because I got frustrated and accidentally ripped the trunk liner that goes around the trunk latch and I don't want to do any more damage to this stupid liner or else I'll end up buying a new one

also if anyone could post pic too it would be really helpful

I just took mine off yesterday and had no issue? Mine is an Aus model which may make it a bit different. Got a pic of where you're stuck?

This is the part I'm not sure how to remove. I read that the black trim around the handle can be popped off. I used a panel popper too to give it a firm pull but it didn't budge so I didn't want to risk breaking it by forcing it

Oh, mine is definitely different! Weird, I thought it was a requirement for Aussie cars too!

Yea a lot of the removal guides I read don't have that inner trunk latch and the guides that do mention that latch have conflicting steps when it comes to removing it

On the inside of the latch you'll see a tab. Use a small screwdriver or something with a point to push it in slightly. This will take off the top plastic piece of the latch. Then you can remove the trunk liner.

Its on the side. You can actually see it in your picture. When looking at the picture, its to the left across the beginning of the neon handle.

you were changing the bulbs right? just reach your hand up and turn the tag light sockets left or right and change them without removing the latch...
