Hi....for the rumbling noise in heavy rain, I have had this on my 98 GS300 and ca. 230K miles. This rumbling/droning also occurred with snow. I traced it to a small hairline crack at the seam where the headers exhaust pipe meets the midpipe, near the gasket. The rumbling occurred only in heavy rain. I sealed it with some JB weld 3 month ago, since it was not repairable with a gasket. No droning/rumbling since then.
