Default Auto shifter options??

I have a 98 GS with a GTE vvti swap and auto supra trans. It goes into gear smoothly, however when putting it into park, it seems to get stuck near reverse. I'm using the stock gated shifter. Any suggestions?

You've looked if the transmission rod is in the position where it should be. Maybe not where it should be placed. Because you say that the swap is made in your car. Re adjust it and see if that's your problem.

I would definitively look at the adjustment rod for the transmission first but maybe your shifter lock solenoid is sticking (the one that prevents you from shifting out of park unless you are applying the brakes). You would be surprised when food, sticky soda drinks and other stuff gets into there.

I forgot to mention to you to check the fuse box that is on the left of the driver side. The fuse is 15A and says lighter. That fuse is also made a major problem especially with the shifter on the tranny. Check that fuse please and maybe install a new one.
