Default 2000 GS400 starting issue! Help!

i have a gs400 with a hard starting issue. the car starts right up when left over night and if left for 6 hours and so on. the car will have a hard starting issue after it is turned off and left for 5 minutes. continuous cranking for 5 seconds then the car will turn over, sometimes cranking will be 10 seconds. priming will only do so much but even with that it wont start the car right up. ive narrowed it down to the injectors or fuel pump check valve which means i would have to replace the fuel pump. i did the fuel pressure test. found out the pressure is stable at 44psi when engine is running and the fuel pressure drops to zero within the first minute. i dont want to change the fuel pump and it being the injectors or even worse both. any suggestions are appreciated

things i have done to the car.

cleaned throttle body
replaced o2 sensors
temperature sensor replace
new battery and alternator
spark plugs
timing belt and water pump
ignition coil

other things i cant remember

I've been looking into this as well and had no luck.. JeffTsai mentions low compression without the symptoms in the following link: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...w-parts-4.html

Apparently the rings are the cause of it and require replacing. I've been trying to reach out for further details but no luck.. Has anybody gave jefftsai's method a try?

I had very similar problems with my GTE engine and it turned out being my fuel pump. Really easy to change out on our cars.

When you try going WOT does your car stall or pull timing?

You check your coil pack connections? Sometimes the plastic plugs become brittle and don't snap together right.

Hopefully some of the things I checked can apply to the v8

i checked the coil pack, everything connected fine. as far as WOT, the car doesnt have a stalling issue but the timing is off. remember rolling at 35 then WOT and the car sped up to 65, then everything just went silent. no shift or anything until a second or 2 later.

when you said it turned out to be the fuel pump. what part actually failed? because with mine when the car is started the fuel pump is good. not a slight stall or shake. what i dont understand is that leaving it for 6 hours to over night it starts right up.

anyways, fuel pump will be replaced in a couple days

When I replaced my fuel pump and filter, my car felt AWESOME.
