How difficult to replace front cat - 2002 GS300
My indy wants $1500 to replace the front cat. It has two pipes (three and three) which bolt to the exhaust ports and each pipe has something like a cat (muffler, resonator? Do not know but each looks like a small muffler). Is this something that I can replace myself?
What problems might I find? For instance is it welded to the back pipe or will the pipe unbolt at the back? Do I need new studs in the exhaust manifold or new exhaust gaskets? Do I need feed it in above structural supports? What other problems might I have? Land Rover has the Rave which gives detailed instructions about the LR repairs but I do not know if Lexus has comparable help.
I can buy a non-OEM for about $425 so I will save about $1K.
