Default Sunroof Motor

I believe my sunroof motor pooped out.

Symptoms: Sunroof wont close all the way. When I go to close it, it closes all the way and then goes back to 1/4 of the way open. I have to hold down the close button for it to fully close.

Anyone know where I can get a new motor? OEM is about $600, ain't trying to drop that type of dough.

You can find them all day used on ebay around $50 bucks as low as $40 if you dont mind used. I know this exact issue has been spoken of before and I cant remember if it was the motor that was the issue. When you use your key in the door to close the windows and sunroof, does it close all the way, or does it do the same thing? I learned that if it was opened or closed half way with the key, the button would remember where it last was set at and keep going to that position until corrected. Doesnt hurt to fully open and close everything with the key in the door to see if that cures the symptom. I have your exact problem but when I close with the key in door, it closes just fine which makes me not know exactly what the problem is cause if it were the motor, it should effect both methods. MY solution? I click the button and let it proceed with its automatic function, wait till it get to where its gonna close and as soon as it begins to go up, I give a slight nudge upwards with it and it stays closed. Now with my situation, it doesnt happen all the time.

Now that I speak/type about it, I think this problem was also affiliated with a button problem and not a motor problem. Got any GS buddies around that wouldnt mind the simple swap of button panels?
